Hi, Im a current at UCI. I would like to transfer to UCLA or UCB for their math programs here are my stats:
Math Classes taken:
Calculus I, II, III (C+)
Linear Algebra (B-)
Differential Equations (A)
Partial Differential Equation (In Progress)
Numerical Analysis (In Progress)
Numerical Differential Equations (Planned)
Science Classes taken:
Physics: Mechanics (B)
Physics: Electricity & Magnetisms (B)
Physics: Optics (C+)
General Chemistry (In Progress)
Other: Have finished my GEs.
Though I know my grades aren’t the strongest I had a family emergency that hindered my performance, which I will talk about in my application. I’m also the guitarist for my church’s Sunday morning worship service and work 15 hours. My overall GPA is a 3.3, but will get it to a 3.4-3.5 by fall. Do I have a shot at being admitted or at least waitlisted? Thanks for the insight.
When you say you completed requirements at UCI, do you mean General Ed courses? You need to complete the Letter of Recipricity from UCI (UCI’s GE courses), plus all the necessary requirements for math for your intended UC.
You can find those requirements by going to assist.org, putting in any CCC, your chosen UC and your major.
Your GPA is low for the major, and Berkeley is the least accommodating of UC-UC transfers (although certainly they do them). You might have a tough time getting there.
Why do you want to switch UCs? Completing at UCI will give you the same result as UCLA.
Hi there, I transferred to UCLA from UCI as math/econ this year. I had a 3.65 and was waitlisted, and then later admitted. Let me know if you have any UCI-related questions
@luckie1367 my upper division math classes that i will take are Partial Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, and Numerical Differential Equation. @lindyk8 yes, completed ALL my GE requirements at UCI so I plan to use UC Reciprocity. @frcrane how was the application process? did you explain why you wanted to transfer?
