Hello, I was wondering what happens if you get admitted into a UC that does not have your desired major? Is it possible to transfer into another UC that has your major?

For example, let’s say I was attending UC Riverside and wanted to major in Nursing. UCR does not have a nursing program, so can I transfer into a UC that does have a Nursing program after I fulfill my GE and prerequisite requirements? I was thinking of doing my GE’s and everything at UCR and then possibly transfer into UCLA during my Junior year; does anyone know if this is possible or not?

Thanks

UC to UC transfers are possible, but they are somewhat rare (the admit rate for these transfers are usually lower than CC transfers). But it is possible, for more info: [University of California - Admissions](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/transfer.html)

It’d be a very long shot. The admit rate for transferring to UCLA nursing(pre licensure) is 2.08%. You should definately have some backup options.

Thanks. What about a UC to a private institution such as USC or Azusa Pacific? Are those easier or just as difficult?

There is an entire subforum for UC transfers and Transfer students. These folks can help you better.

If your undergrad stats are good and the UC you currently attend does not have your intended major, your chances of a UC to UC transfer are pretty good. The key is a major that is not offered!
