You obviously havent read any sticky posts or simply used the search feature, next time try that first. The generic answer you will get from people is that youre already in a UC, CCC students have priority while transfering, kids in UCLA TAP have even higher priority, and then youve got high schools kids who are ahead of them also. You have the stats, but who knows since youre last in line for consideration.

^^ pretty much.

A friend of mine went from UCI to UCLA with a 3.93 GPA in psychology, but yeah, UC to UC is tough.

Supposedly UCLA states that they regard UC-UC transfers the same as CC applicants. Also, UC-UC transfers aren’t actually that difficult. You can get into UCD/UCI/UCSD with a simple 3.5 (sometimes lower but depends on major) and UCLA/UCB with a high GPA + great ECs

If you look at older UC-UC posts, most students here were very successful in their admissions. However, sometimes looking at this forum doesn’t really show a good sample of all applicants… but it really is a kind of myth that UC intercampus transfers are difficult.

No, it’s not a myth. UC-to-UC is nowhere near as easy as a it is for CC-to-UC. GPA alone proves that. UCSD’s cutoff for CC transfers in non-impacted majors last year was a 3.2. If you had a 3.2 coming from another UC, your chances of getting in were near zero. Can you do it with a 3.5-3.9? Sure, but you can get into UCSD on TAG with a 3.0. From a UC, it’s much more difficult.

If you have a high GPA, it really won’t matter too much, but otherwise you’re pretty much screwed.

Of course CC students get higher priority as well as programs such as TAG, but getting into most of the mid-tiers really isn’t that difficult out of a UC (disregarding impacted majors). I personally know students who got into UCD and UCSD with GPA’s ranging from 2.9 to 3.3.

If you run a stat finder report for UCSD or UCD, nearly all majors have an avg GPA running from 3.2 to 3.5 for UC-UC students. Many of the majors actually show that the avg admitted GPA for UC students is lower than CC students.

I’m not saying that UC-UC is EASIER than CC to UC, but it’s really not that difficult based solely on looking at GPA’s. However, one could argue that getting a 4.0 is much easier at a CC compared to a UC.

I was able to get into UCB with a ~3.5 out of UCSC (even though that was mostly due to medical issues) and there are several others who post on these boards that were able to get into Cal with 3.8’s, while several 4.0 CC students were rejected (most likely due to EC’s).

Yeah, I was just saying that the requirements are generally higher while the curriculum gets much more difficult. That, to me, makes it much tougher to transfer. A 3.8 at a CC is no big deal. A 3.8 at a UC is pretty dang tough.
