I received an e-mail today (text below) requesting my high school transcript and test scores immediately. I was wondering why they would request this information even though it is not a consideration for transfer admissions?

It was sent from one UC campus but had a disclaimer at the bottom noting that it could be sent to any of the others...

Just wondering what this means!

"We have received your University of California Undergraduate Application for Admission and Scholarships. Thank you for your interest in our campus.

We are in the process of reviewing your application. Before we can complete our review and reach an admission decision, we need the following information from you:

Please e-mail or fax me your High School transcript including your ACT or SAT Reasoning Exam and SAT II Subject exam scores to me directly (CONTACT INFO).

We must receive this information within five days of this message date, or processing of your application may be delayed or canceled."

This means you haven’t met the 60 semester unit transfer requirement, I believe. If this is true they are going to evaluate you based on both your high school and CC record.

Unless you’re out of state, in which case this might be normal procedure.

^ The above seems most possible. Or… maybe, if you applied under IGETC, there were some things you didn’t show? Like foreign language… Which has always been a biggie.

wow…it would suck to only have 5 days for the transcript, especially if your high school is on spring break right now…as well as SAT/ACT scores, takes time to get it from collegeboard…

I didn’t apply under IGETC for sure, but this is my 5th semester in colleges with full course loads every semester… So I think I’ve fulfilled the unit requirements.

Luckily, they don’t have to be official transcripts or college board, because they can be sent directly to them via e-mail.

Define full course load. 12 units in 5 semesters barely cuts it (60 units), and they would all have to be UC transferrable courses. Thinking you have enough UC transferrable units is not the same as having them. Not having enough units is the only reason I’ve read of this happening before.

The private school thing is the problem. All of the classes taken there aren’t necessarily UC transferrable, if they are transferrable at all… so you don’t meet the 60 transferrable unit criteria. It would suck if they count your high school stats against you.

I transfered from a private university to a CCC after one semester and only 6 of my 15 units. I had to make courses in the winter and summer to make up for the units I lost.

In the event I am admitted to at least one of the schools, and that credits not being transferrable is the problem, do you know if they’ll tell me at the time of acceptance how many credits i have left to complete, or will I have to wait to matriculate?

If you’re admitted they’ll give you the full rundown. For your sake, I hope most of the classes transfer because it’s unlikely they’ll accept you if they don’t.

I talked to a counselor at the CC that went through my previous transcripts and said theoretically, all of my units could transfer… But basically, there’s no way of knowing what will transfer and why, and that it’s different from school to school. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I was at two different private schools, too.

It’d be nice to hear from at least one of the schools so I have an indication of where this might be headed… haha
