Hey all, I've gone through the UC application twice (fall 2006 and fall 2007) and have been admitted to the top 4 UCs for fall 2007. If anyone had any last minute questions, since the deadline is tonight, I'll be glad to answer them to the best of my knowledge here in this thread.

Yes I know of transfer students that get the Regent's and Alumni Scholarships. Last year, transfer students found out a little before decisions were released.

I’ll be checking messages until midnight as well. Most likely I’ll be available by chat as well, I’ll post the room name around 6:00 pm Pacific Standard Time.

Wow, that's great a rep from UCD is available to talk to you all.

Trivia, I have no idea what to do in your "11 class" situation. If you aren't joking, I suggest you calll the UCapplication reps with your questions ASAP.

Also, couple years back, I've heard of them extending the deadline due to busy servers.

I applied to Alumni Scholarship on May. I do not remember the exact deadline but it was sometime early in the May. Definitely after the decisions were released. The interview starts on June. The interview is really competitive, they start out with the general questions like "why do you want to attend UCLA" and then goes into more tough behavioral questions like "what's the greatest challenge you've faced and overcame?" and then they'll test you on your knowledge and viewpoints on hot current issue topics, ranging from controversial political agenda to economic trend of the country.

Last year, for transfer alumni scholarship, they selected 9 students in the entire Los Angeles District for the interview and only 3 got the scholarship. Yup. It really is competitive.

There's also TAP scholarship, which is restricted to students who are TAP certified. Deadline to submit TAP scholarship application is June 1, and you will be sent the application when you get your decision (and of course, you must be accepted into ucla). There is no interview for TAP scholarship but they will contact your community college president and the director of TAP program requesting a letter that highlights your accomplishment, and they will base their decision on that.

Both scholarships are extremely competitive, but the rewards are very worthwhile.

Note: If you are interested in any of the above scholarships, make sure you know someone to write letters of recommendation to you. Prepare letters from at least two different people because if I memory serves right, I remember struggling to find two, three people (professors, work supervisor, TAP director, etc.) to write me the letter. START EARLY.

I had 2 PE classes and 2 Service Learning classes so in reality, I had only 7 academic courses. I have decided to list the non-CCTC classes in the additional comment section and problem solved :D

If you have any last minute questions I'll be in an aim chat room until 11:59 pm tonight. The room name is UCorBust. I'll continue to check posts here as well.

i attend a ccc, and will be attending the same one next semester in order to qualify me as a ccc transfer student. however, last year i went to an out of state school (although i'm a ca resident)...my question is is it beneficial to retake classes in order to get the IGETC certified? or should i just hope that the classes i took will be transferable to the UC schools that i apply to?
