UC transfer applicants!

winter 2006? fall 2006? anyone applying for both? or is that even possible? why'd they change the application deadline until august 18th?

im applying fall 2006

I'm applying for fall 2006, you can but i would only recommend it if you are going to have all your major reqs, igetc reqs completed.

cool, me too.

does anyone know if that change in the winter deadline has anything to do with them accepting more winter applicants?

is it possible to apply for both winter & fall???

yeah, that confuses me. for fall, you need 60 units by the spring before you transfer, so for winter...? i have 52 units already & i'm taking another 18 this fall including my last english class & a physical science to complete IGETC.

its still 60 for the winter, yea def go for it then if you'll have it complete. also are you with any tag or tap agreements, that also helps especially if you have completed your minimum req (2 full semseters in order for it help)

yeah, maybe i will. notifications for winter acceptance is november 1st so if i don't get in then i can just apply for fall, right? i'm applying to UCSB & maybe UCI. there's no TAA paperwork for UCSB but i'll have everything done after this fall. & i've been at a ccc for 2 full semesters.

Yea def can apply for the falling term, I was wondering if you are applying to la or berkeley? but it seems like your in good shape to transfer. stats would be good to know

fall applicant here looking forwards to say good bye to my cc

likewise highschoolda, all too likewise. i just got home from a month of studying abroad in paris, i miss the independence, the nightlife, etc... i need to transfer & move out already! it's driving me nuts. i hope winter works out, if not i guess i'll have next fall.

i'm not applying to ucla or berkeley. my stats are okay. i took 8 units this summer, so i should have a 3.5 or so? i've received awards for my photography & have been in exhibitions. i've done some volunteerwork, no real job experience though i should change that soon. studying abroad was a really big accomplishment for me so i'll be writing about that in my personal statement since it applies to my major which is global studies.

so, winter 2006 anyone? please. we could support eachother, it'll be fun.

I'm applying Fall 2006! Good luck guys.

Picturesque, you did the study abroad program through your CCC is that it?

yeah! cool huh? i didn't think it possible since at UCs you have to apply a year in advance & it's just a really long process but through my ccc i just signed up & a couple months later, i was in paris!

which UCs are you applying to, d3adm3at?

That's pretty awesome! I'm planning on applying to UCLA and UCI. Staying in the So Cal environment.

hey guys, I'll be applying this fall as well - UCR and UCSB. don't know about my chances though, I don't have a stellar GPA, still have a lot of units to get thru, and igetc probably won't be completed until spring sem. gonna give it a shot anyway, and if I have to spend another semester at ccc then so be it.

picturesque, that's cool that you got to do study abroad at your ccc. mine has it too (I think they're going to Italy this fall?) and I was thinking about doing it but I guess I'll just wait until UC..........I don't know, was studying abroad super easy at cc? I kinda need to get away from home life, haha.

anyway, yeah. good luck everyone.

noni,

you should be in at UCR & UCSB with at least a 3.0 or maybe 2.8 even. pfft, i only have a 3.3. haha.

study abroad! the classes were the same as at cc & well, you can take the classes credit/no credit or pass/fail, so grades don't affect your GPA which is what i should've done. seriously, it doesn't seem like you're in too big of a rush to transfer so use it as an excuse to get away from home! if not from the classes, you'll learn a lot about yourself from the independence & being immersed in a different culture. you'll come home more ambitious & motivated ...to transfer! hence me looking into winter admission. i've started on my personal statement, kind of. well, i've just been combining thoughts. should i include the part where i was in london the weekend before the metro bombing & how we had almost missed our train back to paris so the thought of almost getting stuck there in london made my life flash before my eyes & consider law school? or is that too dramatic?

wow, it's 3am & i'm up babbling. good night.

yeah i will be applying to davis and ucsb in the fall... ill have a 3.2-3.3, and my igetc will be done in the spring, ill be missing calculus as a pre major class, but i know ucsb doesnt require all your pre major classes to be completed. The only thing im afraid of is that ucsb gaurantees admission if your english and math requirement will be done by fall prior to transfer. However my math requirement for igetc wont be done till spring.. What do you guys think? do i still have a shot?

see, that's my dilemma. I have a 2.75 so far (yeah, I didn't know what the heck I was doing first semester) but I expect it to be at least a 3.0 by the end of this upcoming fall... and since I will be applying for EAP for the fall '06 semester (possibly academic year) I have to maintain that anyway, considering I get into UC of course. I actually prefer UCR at this point, and I'm pretty sure my luck there will be OK seeing as how it's local and all... but you never know.

it's so good to see you say what a great time you had studying abroad though. this is one of the most IMPORTANT aspects of my education and I'm glad to know firsthand that the experience is totally worthwhile. and I don't think the part about being stuck in London is too dramatic either, it's just another aspect to add onto what made your trip unique.

tncpauld, I think you'll be fine. you're in better shape than I am anyway, which actually isn't saying much, but hey. it is definitely still worth a shot though.

A GPA of 3.0 is guaranteed for UCSB & UCR so don't you guys stress out! Either that or you can complete their TAG's.
