UC Transfer Application: Not taking a planned course

I am a community college student who recently applied to most of the UC campuses. For the spring 2019 quarter, I updated during the January TAU that I will be taking biology, organic chemistry, physics and linear algebra. I know I have to take the 3 science courses for sure but I added linear algebra because UCLA listed it as “recommended” for my major, which is biochemistry. But now that it is time to register for spring classes, I am realizing that the course load is quite heavy and am not sure if I can manage all those courses and get good grades on all the courses.

I know that it is best to follow through with the academic plan as dropping a planned course could possibly have a negative effect on my admissions, but with the courses I have planned, I honestly think I will be quite overwhelmed. Does anyone have any suggestions or inputs on possibly dropping a recommended course and notifying them or just trying to make it through the quarter.

It would be good for you to take linear algebra at your community college, since you might not want to take it at UCLA or the UC campuses you applied to. Updating the TAU now will be fine as long as you notify each campus. I also have made a change in the TAU after the priority deadline, and call or email all the campuses I applied to. All of them received the change except UC Berkeley. An admission officer at UCB told me I can only notify a change in my spring schedule AFTER getting admitted.
