UC Transfer Fall 2008

luvtoolearn- what classes you taking this fall? how many units?

academic08: I don't think I'm qualified to give advice on that subject, so I won't!

luvtoolearn: I have 2 anthro classes and a geograpy class, which are about what I expected. Reasonable workload and interesting subject matter. My chem class (biophysical chemistry) is going to be a nightmare, I can see myself studying a few hours every single day for that class.

Santa Monica College
Applying: Haas @ Cal + UCLA & Stanford
major: Business Administration
GPA: 4.00
IGETC + Prereq: done by Spring '08.
ECs: 3+ years full-time at Sony (product manager) / Founded 501c(3) non-profit / Founded several companies + acquired venture capital

torrance.....I had 18 units, but one of my classes was way to full so I dropped it..I'll take it in the Spring instead. I'm down to 13 this semester which is the minimum...
I did not finish one of my pre-reqs at the CCC so I'm in SOC 5 to finish it along w/ the required discussion sections (you'll find allot of classes w/ discussion sections here). Then SOC 150 (love that class!!!) & Theatre 52B, I also signed up for a decal class (classes taught by students) on Wed evening called the prehistory of hip hop...that should be really fun.

oh that's another thing for any of you future Cal students...if you decide to go Berkeley...we have decal classes that are allot of fun and they are good for credits, usually 1-3, no letter grade, just p/np but still will enhance your experience. If you want to check it out go to www.decal.org

CH3CH2OH...those all seem like difficult classes

luvtoolearn- Cal's minimum unit is 13?(Full Time Student) Also, your classes seems chill... Why are you taking theatre and decal classes?

Pasadena City College and Glendale City College
Applying to: UCLA econ, UCI's new business program
GPA: 3.65
Igetc: done by spring
Req: everything except for 2nd semester calc...which i plan on taking in the summer (does anyone know of this is even possible?)
ECs: member of SIFE, Alpha Gamma Sigma, high school sports, volunteer at boys and girls club

btw, does anyone know how heavily UCI weighs completion of major reqs?

what is UCI's new business program I haven't seen on ASSIST.ORG

decal for fun & I'm thinking about minoring in theatre/dance but I'm not sure yet. The other two classes are SOC major specific so all my SOC classes will seem easy to most people but there is tons of reading involved and lot's of writing (essays), I love it but it's not for everyone

13 is the min unless you have extenuating circumstances...15 is the normal unit load...however classes seem to have more units than most CCC classes so it works out to be almost the same amount.

luv- thx for the info!

luvtoolearn- I've heard that Cal has history/poli sci class to finish to graduate is that true? If yes, do you know what classes is it?

motul - according to my counselor, UCI's Paul Merage school of business is gonna offer an undergrad BA in business starting Fall 08 and they're gonna start accepting admissions into the program starting w/ this years applicants.

the lower-division reqs, which i got from UCI's website, are:

* Mathematics 2A-B Single Variable Calculus (two quarters required)
* Economics 20A-B Basic Economics I, II (two quarters required)
* Management 7 Statistics for Business Decision Making
* Management 10 Business and Management in the World Today
* Management 30A Introduction to Financial Accounting
* Management 30B Introduction to Managerial Accounting

hey bumbumbum,

you can't do your major requirements the summer before transfer, u HAVE TO do it by this spring!

Does anybody know if u can fulfill IGETC requirements the summer before transfer, though?

CC: San Joaquin Delta College
Applying to : UC Berkley and UCR
Major: English
Pre Reqs: will already be done by the end of this semester. IGETC done by spring.
GPA: 3.68
EC: Part time job, Church

Alright so I was just really glad that at least Berkley does not have a foreign language pre req for English. I got really ****ed at the fact that UCLA required a foreign language, and coped with taking it easy this year and just getting into my safety UCR. Now that I know that CAL is a possibility I might as well work extra hard this year too, whats there to lose?

CC: deanza
Major: math/premed
GPA:3.9
applying to: Cal, ucla, ucsd, ucd, uci
prereq: finished by end of fall 07
IGETC: will be finished by spring 08
ECs: tutored math for one quarter, math club
Red flags: 2Ws(but retook for As)

Well, I think I would be totally set for these schools if I had much better ECs and no Ws. So this fall Im going all out on my ECs and my essay. All I can do is cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Cal State

all of the applicant on CC have good chance lol!

Those stats look pretty good....but I checked assist.org and there were "no courses articulated" for the prequisites between Santa Monica College and Berkeley. Are these prereqisites, or am I just confused?

they are pre-reqs. It just means the equivilent course is not offered at SMC.

Cypress College
Psychology
3.56 Gpa
Applying to: UCI, UCSB, UCD, UCR, UCLA/CAL maybe..
Prereq: will finish UCI/UCLA/ prereqs this semester.
