UC transfer from another 4 year

Hello
I currently go to University of Oregon and I know that I want to transfer as a Junior to a UC such as, UCB, UCSD, UCD, UCLA, or UCSB. I am currently a Bio major and would like to stay in the science majors when i transfer. I am wondering what kinda of classes I need to take in the next year, I will be finishing my chem this year and my calc. What GE do i need to complete and what other things should I take as a sophmore, i am confused on what courses will work since I am at another four year university. I am a California resident though. Please help I feel like I am screwed.

I recommend you visit with your counselor. You could also visit assist.org and see the types of classes required for your major as a junior level transfer. As far as the classes transferring over… That’s an entirely different issue. It’s always a good idea to have your Math/English requirements done too. You are going to need to have a pretty good GPA to compete with TAG transfers from CCC’s.

What English requirements do i need? I tested out of English composition and Enlglish literature because of AP testing. As for my GPA would it be better for me to finish my freshman year at Oregon then go to a community college for sophmore year would that help my chances?

UC’s require two intro English courses (Reading & Composition + Critical Thinking/Literature). They also typically require Statistics. Since you are a Bio major I would assume you would need to have a lot of other classes as welll. If you transfer to a CCC you could do a TAG agreement with any UC of your choice (excluding UCB & UCLA). This would guarantee your admittance as long as you met certain requirements for the school and your major. If you do decide to transfer you must ensure that you do not achieve “Senior Standing”.

Senior standing means you would have 90 or more UC-transferable semester units (or 135 quarter units) from accredited four-year universities and community colleges, combined. All UC-transferable units completed at a four-year university apply toward the limit of 90 semester units (or 135 quarter units).

Achieving senior standing would make you ineligible for a TAG.

You should really meet with your counselor and discuss your options. You are paying a lot of money to attend a university. If you are being held back, then perhaps transferring to a CC and then a UC of your choice would be better.

If you opt to stay at the university and transfer at the end of your sophomore year directly to a UC - you will want to figure out what classes will satisfy the requirements for your major. I would also guesstimate you would need to attain a GPA around 3.5.

Being a Bio major you are sure to have to take at the bare minimum for your lower division:
General Physics I & II
Calc I & II
General Chem I & II
OChem I & II
Molecular Bio, Plant Bio, Animal Bio, and Cell Bio
Stats
Two Intro English courses
