Hey, I know that Cal does't have any transfer agreement program like UCLA, but do they favor someone who has taken a lot of honor classes. Or is it just GPA that matter?

It can only help you if you were an honors student.

My counselor told me that your application would look more appealing for the simple fact that you are an honors student. Whether or not that gives you any advantage or priority, I don't know.

you can try for the honors classes, but dont take them knowing you will get a B, also the extra work might give you some edge, but i dont think its worth the work.

just make sure you have everything as complete as possible

I don't know for all of UCB but the Haas counselor told me they see all cc classes the same whether they are honors or not. He told me just to keep my gpa up.

hi,WingZer0. Can I ask u some questions regarding ucla? I am now attending a private uni in cali as a soph and i am tinking of transferring to a UC. My major is accounting and I have tried to maintain my GPA around 3.87. Do u think that it is possible for me to get into ucla's econs major?

what are u doing at a private university if u want to transfer? get out and go to ccc.

For transfergurl:

It is alwasy best to transfer from a CC, priority is given to them regardless.

for your situation economics is impacted, meaning many students apply and there are not sufficient space for them all.

their stats is as follows for 06 fall transfers

Economics, Pre

515 apply

125 accepted

24.27% of acceptance

3.41 ave applicant

3.76 ave accepted

if you are maintaining a 3.87, thats very good considering your attending a private university and the extra .1 GPA above ave accepted is also very good. all the advice i have to give to you, is try and complete whatever prerequiste classes they tell you to do (assist.org) as completely as possible. with all things considered you have a good chance of acceptance.

What's the true power of UCLA's TAP when it comes to such impacted majors as Bus. Econ? Differing answers in the thread so far, but I've seen some CCC's state themselves that it boosts your chances of admission dramatically (to approx. 80-90%).

So many debates about this, but this is what I've heard from a UCLA counselor:

1) they asses the TAP applicants first of all the transfer applicants.
2) if you don't get accepted to your first major, you will also be considered for the second one you list.

Okay so I just signed a TAA with UC Davis a couple days ago. I probably should've asked this before but how the adviser explained it to me was:

1.My CC, de anza, sends off the agreement to UCD. UCD sends it back to my CC, and then my CC sends the agreement to my house. I'm sure it'll have instructions on what I should do but I'm just wondering in advance what else I have to do?

2.Another thing I was wondering is since I signed the agreement, would I still have to go through the regular application process with UCD (I'm thinking yes)?

I currently have 83 UC transferable QUARTER units, after fall I will have about 95, and then after winter about 107. Would it be okay for me to take Spring 07 quarter off?

4.Other than that I was wondernig if I am applying for Fall 2007, I read that my Fall 06 grades would be counted towards admission, but what about winter 07 grades?

Thanks!

for mylifeisover23:

nothing if you did do the TAA correctly

yes, only difference is that maybe they will have your classes listed for you already so you dont have to type them in

no, do not take spring off, you have to update your grades in the spring as well as your spring courses, for them to see that you have nothing makes you look terrible

they will be updated, in the spring, however the bulk of the decision will be based on fall 07 grades and before.
