Uc transfer within 1 year?

Hello all,
I am trying to transfer out of ucr in 1 year, so I would like to be a sophomore at another uc, preferably uci or ucsb , or ucsc next fall (fall 2015) I currently have 36 units from my AP test and I am currently taking 16 units for fall semester and continue to take another 16-18units for the next two semesters! I believe that would rule out the 90 semester units for uc transfer right? If I didn't meet the 90 semester unit for the uc transfer, I would like to add that I did take 2 summer class at gwc which was 3 units each. Do I have to apply in September so I can be a sophomore at the uc listed above? Or would you suggest that after 1 year at ucr that I go back to a cc for a year and transfer to the UCs that u listed above? I am scared that I would be over the capped limit if I go back to a cc to transfer for the TAG program! Please clarify? Thank u so much for reading this long paragraph.

Okay, garbled wall of text. Assuming these are all in quarter units: AP: 36. Summer: 6. Current semester: 16. Planned Winter/Spring: ~32. Add them all up, you’re at 90 quarter units. So yes, you can apply for transfer this November.

You’d be applying to transfer as a junior. Class standing isn’t based on how old you are or how long you’ve been at a school, it’s based on how many credits you’ve got. At 45, school considers you a sophomore. At 90, you’re a junior. So, you don’t apply to be a sophomore transfer even if it’d be your second year.

As for the CC route: <a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors;
It says AP won’t affect that unit cap, so I think you’re okay? Assuming you land at a semester CC, you’d have 35-40ish semester units, not counting AP… or 60-ish if you do count AP. I don’t think you really need to worry about the unit cap unless it’d put you up near 90 semester units.

I would suggest you try applying this cycle, and see where it goes. When decisions come out, re-evaluate your options. Would it make more sense to transfer to one of the schools that accepted you, or would you rather try the CC route and apply again in a year? Apart from the application fee, there’s not really a downside to applying this year, if you’re not happy with the results you can try again next year.

If I apply this year, and I get rejected, can I apply again next year? Thank you for answer it was very very VERY helpful!!!

I forgot, if I applied this November would I apply as junior level or sophomore level? I’m confused

You’d apply as a junior (based on your accumulated units).
