I have always wanted to go to a college on the East Coast, specifically Carnegie Mellon or Georgetown. However it's not financially possible at the moment. I plan to go for two years in a less expensive school, save as much as I can, and transfer over.

I was wondering if transferring from a UC school would be a viable option? Is it relatively easy to transfer? How well do general credits transfer?
Would it be better to go to a lesser ranking private school (not top 50 even) or to a higher ranking UC school (top 30)? In terms of credits and ease.

& as a kind of side question, are there any schools known for being easier to transfer into?
For example, I know of people who would've never gotten into USC being accepted after two years in UCR or even a community college. :)

Thank you! Any help, at all, would be incredibly useful right now!
