UC/UCLA Transfer pre-req's

Hi everyone!

So heres my situation: I would have finished Chinese 4 and be done with the pre-req but my first cc I attended a year did not really have chinese courses other then the first beginner course.
This is my 2nd year in CC ( just transferred to) I'm planning to transfer to UCLA and other UC's as a International development Studies major or the likes in fall 2012. Some require me to complete up to 6th semester foreign language and by the time I finish my last Spring at the CC, I will be done with Chinese 3 which is mid-Chinese 5.

Will I be flat out rejected from the UC's without completing this pre-req?

Also, if I was accepted as a pre-IDS lets say, and I want to finish my language pre-req's so I can be accepted as a IDS major by the coming fall 2012, would they allow me to take intensive 15 unit summer classes (4, 5 & 6 quarters) to complete my lang. requirements although I'm mid-Chinese 5?

Thanks!!

UCLA doesn’t have an International Development major. Depending on how competitive the major (you apply to at UCLA) is, your lack of prerequisites may or may not put you at significant disadvantage. If there are overwhelming number of excellent applicants who have completed ALL prerequisites applying in 2012, then your chance to get in with incomplete prerequisites will be much lower. On the other hand, if most applicants have incomplete prerequisites (for your major) applying in 2012, then your chance will be better.
