sorry, nevermind you all. i can't find it online. but i can SWEAR i read it in in one of the berkeley brochures. i even remember feeling unbelievably that moment.

dude--dont waste time looking into weird avenues.

BECAUSE...

EVERY avenue says the SAME THING. People continue to incorrectly interpret what is written or said. I don't think even the least informed counselor in California would tell you there is a unit limitation on CCC only students. There isn't.

yep, that was i too posted in my first response to this thread. All CC units are fine.

Eligibility for the TAG (this is only UCSD)

part 4.

will not have completed more than ninety (90) semester units of UC transferable work from both two year and four year colleges prior to transfer

So you guys are interperting to mean that ONLY people who attend both UC and CC are limited to ninety units.
I read it to mean ninety units form EITHER Place.

Also, anything over 70 gets subject credit. So it doesnt actually benefit you to do over 70 b/c you will still have to do the same amount to graduate.

This is from the 2005 Transfer FAQ on myBerkeleyApp site:

Q: If my total number of UC transferable units is over 80, am I eligible for admission?
A: Probably not. Unfortunately, most applicants with excess units are denied admission.

Exception: If all of your coursework has been or will be completed at one or more California community colleges, you are eligible for admission and the maximum transfer credit you can receive is 70 semester (105 quarter) units.

This is for Berkeley. Most other UCs follow similar guidelines. You might need to check with each of the UCs.

Good luck!

thank you !! that's what i read in my brochure

So, can you do like 120 semester units? but you will recieve credit for 70? and they will still accept you?

Yes, you can complete 120 semester units and receive credit for 70 semester units at Berkeley (referring to my previous post). This will only make you eligible for admission. If they like everything else they see on your app. then they'll make you an offer :)

Ok, sounds nifty, but i am still doing only 74 units so doesnt matter :)

i have a seperate question.

When one applies the only units and GPA that is factored is the one for the completed work right? Do they even take into consideration your work in progress?

For UCLA and UCB you basiclly apply while having still 3 semesters up in the air, (the current fall during application period, spring and summer), but none of that is factored in?

Okay, when you apply, you indicate which classes you are currently taking during the fall semester in which you apply. Once those grades come in, you must submit a Transfer Update Form, which is available on the UC Pathways website. You will receive an e-mail about the due-date of this document. These grades are taken into consideration and could effect your chances of admission.

As far as the following spring semester, you must maintain a 3.0 GPA for that semester alone with no grade lower than a C. I believe the same rules apply for UCLA, but I'm not positive.

You may take summer classes, but all classed required for admission (Think IGETC) must be completed no later than the spring semester prior to transferring.

<3,

Izzie Bear

When do people usually find out if they get in or not?

i have guranteed admission to UCSD in SPRING quarter, so i would need to find out for UCLA and UCB b4 i need to send my SAR to UCSD?, is there a chance of that happening or do the decisions come in around may or some other late month?

The UCs will look at the courses you've completed and your GPA for those courses which includes the Fall application period. You're expected to complete your work in progress, and to report any changes to your Spring semester schedule as soon as possible. After they've offered you admission, each UC will have different requirements with regards to your work in progress. For eg., UCLA wants you to maintain a B average for your work in progress (I may be a little off and this could change). UCB wanted a B or better for my 5 unit Math class and complete English 1B. Generally, the UCs do not want to see a drastic drop in academic performance for the Spring semester.

Do you have TAG with UCSD for Spring '06 or Spring '07?

Yes, you find out in May.

<3,

Izzie Bear

spring 06.

I am done with my tag requirments and with my IGETC this fall. then i have to wait 1 quarter b4 going to UCSD or two quarters/ 1 semester b4 UCLA or UCB

Since its may i dont know what to do now. any suggestions?

so g's, what if you take quarter units at a university for say a summer semester as a visiting student-does that change the unit limitation? are you capped again at 90 quarter?
