Hi, I’m taking 1 AP and 3 honors next year, but only one of the honors (Spanish III honors) is considered weighted under UC standards. Will colleges think I’m only taking 1 AP and 1 honors or will they see that I’m actually taking 3 honors (World Lit H, Spanish III H, Chem H) and 1 AP?
When you go to fill out the Common App, there will be a space for you to list all of the courses you are taking. Just be sure to write “honors” next to all the classes that are accelerated. My school doesn’t even weight honors classes, but colleges still like to see that they were at a higher level.
On the UC application, you can select Honors from a drop down menu for each class that you are taking but if it is not UC approved, it will not be considered Honors for the UC GPA calculation. Your GC will have to let the schools know that you are taking a rigorous schedule and the final transcript will show the Honors designation for these classes.
