UC Winter Transfers

Has anyone else heard from UCI recently? Does anyone still have a pending application?

im still waiting on UCSB =\ i called in twice last week and they told me that they would let me know by today… but they havnt.

I’m still pending for UCI, I got accepted for UCSB though.

I was admitted to UCI wednesday and got the letter in the mail today.

shinne1, my application had advance standing also. however i think it just means junior level transfer. good luck!

still waiting on ucsb, they must have a lot of apps or something?

ya i guess they do, i hope they let me know by monday cuz if they dont then ill be heading to UCD.

yah SB got the application late or something cause i was notified last by SB and now their decision is taking the longest, along with UCSC

maybe they could extend the deadline for davis

I Got Into Ucla!!!

congrats, didn’t know they were open for winter?

You are sorta right. Only the engineering college is open for transfers. I hope you get into UCSB.

thanks, yah i kind of remember ucla was only open to engineering for winter, not sure though, and for ucsd i contacted the transfer ad visor and a while back and they said they only accept tap people for winter transfer, i don’t think the application was open for winter anyways. Also about about ucsd i read on their website that their communications department was geared more towards theater, but not it says different, how weird, i haven’t been to san diego in a while, i went to the zoo for 6th grade field trip, and early in high school went to the wild animal park, which i don’t think is in the city. But i heard san diego is a nice area, but heard ucsd is like socially dead aka UC sociallly dead and there not much to do but i could be wrong. SB is taking forever and the SIR for other schools are this monday. SB gets a rep for a party school ut i also heard its very social

congrats oxypunk =D what were your stats?

Hello everyone! I noticed the discussion about UC Winter 2008 applicants here, and as someone who was accepted to UCLA for the Winter 2008 quarter, I thought I would be cool to meet some other prospective transfers, especially since I don’t really know anybody going to UCLA. Anyway, congratulations to everybody out there who got in!

Major: Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 3.50-3.53 (I have classes at 3 colleges, and I am to lazy to figure exactly what it is)
Prerequisite completion: will finish the last one this fall, physics
IGETC: not bothering
Work: worked at a biomedical engineering company for 8 months.
Extracurricular: none
Personal Statement: I think I did a really good job on them

There you go sixshot1.

dragondawg, UCSB is great socially. I visit friends there every couple months. I have never seen such a crazy party scene. Not to mention its right on the beach. Additionally, its academics are great as well. It is a hard combination to beat. Probably would be my second choice among schools in the UC system to attend.

dragondawg: yeah most of my high school freinds went to SD probably like about 10 of them and I did heard about how’s there nothing to do there and as for sb, I have heard since high school that they are known as a party school, a couple of my friends go there also but i never had ask her about the parties and stuff

congrats oxypunk151, is the gpa you stated, is it at the time of application? so till Spring 2007? Just curious.

My friend got in to UCLA for Fall 2007, her gpa was like 3.3~3.4 at the time of application, but during winter/spring she didn’t do as good in her work and even failed a class, so at the end i think she probably dipped below a 3.0 but they still accepted her, so I think probably once they accept you, they don’t really reject anyone (but could happen if it really bad) even though you did poor from there on. Plus, i have read other ppl stories on forums, hwo they always have like 3.3~3.5 gpa but by the end of Spring they have 3.0ish gpa they still going to get in.

People are already hearing from SB? Wow.
Does it hurt your chances of getting in if you haven’t completed lower division requirements? I applied for aquatic biology at UCSB, but i haven’t completed the pre-bio reqs cuz I am only a second year (UCSD).

Oh. So I applied to UCSB as a senior in high school, but chose UCSD instead. When I applied for winter, I was assigned the same perm number that they gave me last time. Does anyone know if that would mean anything (anything good hopefully…)??

^ maybe since they did accepted you before at least that mean you’re in good standing, by the way why do you want to transfer to sb from sd?

my brother went to sb and graduated a few years back, i’ve only been there like couple times when he was up there, to drop him off freshman year, move in day was hectic, to help him move into his apartment senior year, and his graduation, i don’t party but i heard there are people who don’t party there and they find other things to do, i hope. A few of my high school classmates went to UCSD cause they were science majors and UCSD i guess is good for that. Yeah SB is known as a party school and as everyone well knows everyone goes there for halloween every year. And a few of my other high classmates when to UCSB and they say its crazy, though its a small town, i wonder what is there to do up there. I really have a bad social life since forever so a good social scene would be nice

RDW: so you don’t like UCSD? if so is there a reason? do you regret not going to SB after high school

Congrats oxypunk I got in to UCLA too!! wohoooooooooo!! congrats to everyone who were accepted.
btw are you going to apply for housing? I heard it is very unlikely to get a dorm during winter. Hope i get lucky.
