UC Winter Transfers

Annubes, I got no clue at the moment what I am going to do for housing. I’ll probably opt for an aparment if I can get one.

Man oh MAN do I regret not going to SB right out of high school. Me and UCSD do not get along. It seems like other people go to college, and it is this complete block of its own, of moving out, living on your own, learning, becoming independent, having fun, and it is a completely different time period from high school and from grad school/working. Here, it is just a place you go before you go to med school. I am also from a completely different culture than UCSD, which is over run with people from LA and SD-I am from a really rural, environmentally aware area, and the city and I just don’t mix. I know a lot of people at SB and they love it, partying scene aside. I also don;t really like my major here, and like the ones at SB and SC better.
I also got bogged down with rankings in high school, and didn’t really stop and think about it. Just because a place is ranked #3 or whatever, doesn;t mean it is ranked that for YOUR major. I am still a science major, but other schools are better for my particular major.
Basically I didn;t think the rumors would be true, but man oh man are they true.

yeah i read on a few college website where students go to write and talk about the college they go to and SB pretty much is good socially and of course partying, and SD is just boring, that UCSD kids have to go to San Diego State to party. My high school experience was terrible and cc wasn’t much better, i guess freshman yera is the year to experience dorm life but its too late, hopefully i get in and get good housing as a transfer for winter. I can’t believe i’m still waiting for a decision, my SIR for riverside is due tomorrow even though i don’t think i’m going, but still, it would be nice to know,

i had a dream last night that i got in but usually my dreams are the opposite of what’s happening in reality so i might not get in, if i don’t i’ll try to appeal. I’ve done well in my courses for my major but my gpa is barely above the required minimum

^ Yeah if you really want to get in to SB badly, appeal of course, but afterall, i’m just planing to stay at my cc for the whole year and apply for fall, and this time i can apply to the colleges that i really wanted to go. but ucr really was one of my top choice since that’s the only business adminstation major offer in socal

I believe UCI offers an undergrad buisness degree now. Don’t overlook SDSU for a buis degree if you are staying in socal.

hey oxypunk, do you like the band oxymoron by any chance?

HAHA. I made this name up as a freshmen in high school back when I was into Oxymoron (Oi Oi Oi). I’ll have to listen to the cd again soon.

yeah for winter your kind of limited in terms of majors and schools, for fall everything is open

good luck tomorrow dragondawg, hopefully we both get into SB or atleast here from them. the more i think about going to ucd, the more nervous i am getting about not fitting . my major is at both uci and ucd, however uci is way to close and i really wanna dorm (my parents wont let me dorm at uci because it is so close to home) but ucd is far and probably not worth transfering to if i got accepted to my major at both schools. ucsb is perfect =</p>

i’m thinking of maybe signing the SIR for riverside, i think there’s a 100 dollar fee but i’m trying to get that waived by adding the UCR school code to my fafsa, its still processing, i think if you sign the SIR then you can cancel if but you have to let them know and give them a reason, and if you paid you probably won’t get a refund. I’m guessing if i signed it tonight i will get into sb tomorrow, if i don’t sign it then i won’t hear from them lol

hope you get in too sixshot, hopefully they let you know tomorrow so you won’t have to sign davis sir

ah i just called ucsb… again, doesn’t look like i’m getting in. the lady was ready to deny me right then and there but after knocking my gpa for a few seconds and telling me that i was out competed, she changed the subject and told me that she cant give me a decision till monday of next week =. apparently other applicants had better GPAs so im assuming the kids had 3.5s+

Don’t lose hope, I got accepted to UCSB with a 3.2 GPA. I signed my SIR for Davis and I heard it might affect the decision for the other UCs since I’ll be taking up two spaces if I sign another SIR. However, I’ve already decided to go to Davis so it wouldn’t matter much now. Still waiting for Irvine and UCSC.

hey cloy do you know peeps at davis? is it a boring school??

i have a friend who goes to davis and says he hates it, but thats just him, that sucks about the lady at ucsb, i guess maybe they are letting the people they accepted know first and the people they are on the fence about or people they are not letting in they are waiting till the end, in the ucr site they said if you want to cancel the sir then you have to email them or mail then your school info and a reason for canceling, but if that effects your admissions to to other ucs then hmmm

I know people that transfered to every UC besides LA, Riverside and Merced. The only one right now that’s having a blast is the one from Davis because he went in very active and excited about it. The one from Cal is just starting to have some fun because she was also homesick, but finally got over it. The ones from from Irvine and SB are homesick and is not having fun at all so they just sit around not doing anything. I’m guessing it depends on you. If you go into college active and participate in the social events then you’ll most definitely have a great time. On the contrary, if you sit in your room and expect something to happen then of course you’re going to bored to death because you’re not seeking to do anything. As for me, I’m really excited about Davis so I’m planning to be really active in Davis.

kool. i plan on being hella active, im just worried that campus is a

that the campus is dead***

does anyone know how we can extend our sir deadline?
