UC Winter Transfers

i’m actually learning about shizo in my psych class right now, i had a friend who’s a girl and when he graduated junior high and went to high school she changed and partied, smoke, and i heard earlier this year she’s like on every drug and parties at every club, and now that she’s in her third year of college out of state, wow, my high school was like that, people partying every weekend, never went to any though. One of my professors today was saying how some majors are impacted like business and communication and to pick a major like anthropology where its not impacted and you’ll get accepted and then change your majors, you’ll lose a year but better than not getting in a i guess, of course you’ll be spending more money, i bet ucsb will let me know the last day possible for even beyond, i didn’t think there were this many applicants for winter.

Crap i just read that communications is impacted as ucsb, i put history as my second major, but sure if that’s impacted

I am amazed not everyone has herd yet from all the schools.

must be a lot of people transferring in the winter, either that or something is making it take forever

ucsb takes a while because they have a population maximum. They are set to a limited amount of growth per year by the city of Santa Barbrara, or county or something. They have to wait till they get the official student count before they can let everyone in. And was told last year that can end up being around 10/20.

Just something to think about, you can call for more details or exact details, but the above is the gist of it

Are any of you guys UC to UC transfers?

alc is a uc to uc transfer i believe

well 10/20 is two more days so we’ll see, don’t really feel like going to ucr

i think the sb rep told me a while back that your guaranteed admissions if your 2 english courses and 1 math course for the igetc gpa is at least 3.0, all the UCs always stress the 2 english and math courses even when you don’t ask or your question is irrelevant. they say you should take those classes first

i dont know that sounds to good to be true. maybe for non impacted majors i guess. your guaranteed to certain majors with all prereqs completed as well as igetc and a certain GPA. the min gpa various from major to major i believe.

guarantee is for fall applicants only.

hey southpasa, how strict is sb on major changes? say i want to switch my major but i dont have many of the prereqs down, will they allow me to? can i just take the pre reqs my first quarter and than apply for a major change? it should only take me one quarter to catch up.

housing for transfers aren’t guaranteed until next fall so for this winter its a lottery system, i also heard its based on some people moving out in the middle of the year so maybe your rommate is already there. I just checked and i got into UCSC, but its pretty far

Yea, I called UCD for the housing and I was on the waitlist #46. I asked how many resident spaces are there and they said over 5,000. Does anyone know if we’re elgible for any of the 5,000 spaces or are we limited to a certain area because on the UCD housing website, it says transfers are limited to only one area, Castillion I think that’s what the name of the area is called. By the way, I also just checked UCSC and I got accepted. I’m not sure how to deny the acceptance though so maybe others can take my spot. Finally, all the colleges replied.. =]

still waiting on SB, i think i should of applied to UCSD for for the heck of it, even though the transfer person said they only accept TAG transfers for winter, i think maybe on the application for winter it wasn’t open, not sure though, i hear its socially dead and only the greek life seems fun from the pictures i’ve seen of people who i know go there. I know some people at USD that are doing a semester abroad in europe right now, it seems a lot of people i know that are in their junior year of college that are going abroad or a semester at seas, i bet that cost a lot

major changes are fine as long as you have the pre req. The only exception would be if you have to many units to finish the rest of your needed classes

when transferring you need at least 60 transferable units, but no more than 70, some majors that require math usually go over 60

You can have as many units as you want as long as they’re from a community college – the unit limits only apply when transferring from a non-CCC.

not true at all

"The University will award graduation credit for up to 70 semester (105 quarter) units of transferable coursework from a community college, meaning those units will be counted toward completion of your degree. Courses in excess of 70 semester (105 quarter) units will not receive unit credit but will receive subject credit and may be used to satisfy University subject requirements.

Some campuses also limit the total number of transfer units that will be accepted. If your community college work is combined with credit from a four-year institution, different unit limits may apply. Please consult the Admissions Office at the UC campus that interests you."

I have emailed to UCLA, UCD (assume other UC as well) regarding this before. The unit limit does not apply to applicants who only been to a CCC.
