I know its early to look at which UC's are open for Winter 2010 transfers, but can someone help me with which UC's were open for Winter 2009 transfers?

I know the best thing to do is transfer in the Fall, but I could not apply for Fall 2009 because I would not have finished 60 units. I graduated high school 2008 and been working really hard at CC, and I will finish over 60 units, IGETC, and prereqs by the end of Fall 2009. I do not want to waste another semester at CC, so I want to transfer ASAP.

what's your GPA?
if you're a competitive applicant, you might want to hold out for that extra semester to at least give yourself a shot at UCB and UCLA.

Last winter UCLA had winter transfer it for EE I think
UCSC, UCI, UCR , UCM (spring) had it for almost all majors
Berkeley none
Rest only if you had a tag agreement.

Currently I have a GPA of 3.64 in 28.5 semester units. All A's except for 1 D for when I took Chinese as a high school student. I am currently working on Biology 2 (Honors), Physics 1, Organic Chem 1, and MicroEcon (Honors).

It is actually a funny story. I asked the teacher to give me a D, so I can retake the class, and cover up the D... (if I got a C, I can't retake it)

I really want to go to UCLA, but I do not want to wait another semester because I feel like I would be wasting time. I wouldn't have anymore requirements to take and I would have to wait out the entire spring and summer until I take my upper division science classes.

School choices (in order): UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UCD

Oh, by the way, what is a "competitive GPA" for CCC transfers?

in either case UCLA is only open for nursing for winter

I find it hard to believe you have nothing else to take. If you are wanting to take upper division science courses because you are a science major you at the very LEAST
can take Physics 2 and 3 , and the second semester of Organic Chem.

Also how much math have you done, usually calculus is a requirement.

you ought to ask ms.lee about a student educational plan and what is needed to get into UCLA. have you gotten TAP out of the way? if not, go speak with ms. harer and load up on some honor courses. they are really easy and it helps with your chances of getting into ucla.

Haha. I'm such a goof and left out my major again. I am planning Biology: Microbiology/Immunology. So I'm guessing it is heavily impacted (Biology major...).

Thanks for you information about Skyline. It is good seeing Skyline folks on this forum. I am working on getting TAP, but if UCLA doesn't work out for my plan, I guess Honors Transfer Program still looks good on applications. =]

<just random="">
It is great that there are Skyline Students on this forum. I just wanted to point out that Community College is very intimidating for a freshly out of high school student =]. I mean, most of the students at the school are so much older (not to be mean), but I guess I am not use to it. I was always one of the youngest at my school since I started school at an early age and at Community College it is an even greater age difference. At least through this forum I can just talk to people and not need to know anything about them. People are cool in class, but just knowing that some are over 10 years older then you makes you feel inferior... I guess that's how life is after high school.</just>

Dude, keep up the GPA and with TAP, you should get into UCLA. But to answer your original question, you aren't going to be able to transfer in the winter. just wait it out another semester.

As for your random point, I totally know what you are going through. I'm a first-year student (academically im a sophomore) and people at skyline tended to be wayyyy older than me. But you get used to it after awhile. Take honors courses; that's where i met all of my friends at skyline cause people in honor courses are so much cooler and are serious about transferring. lol

Oh my god, do I know you? I also a first year student but with Sophomore status =.=

Sorry if I keep on bumping this topic.

Thank you for everyone's help. I will talk to my councilor and see what he/she thinks. And I will keep an eye out for when UC's post if they will open for Winter Transfers.

Final note. Good luck to all you Fall Transfers =]

UCLA is not going to open up that major for winter so there is no reason to get your hopes up

and to be more specific you mean this major correct
Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics/B.S

What you should do because this major is so highly competative is finish TAP, finish the last semester of physics.

IN addition to that what you have the option of doing if you do not want to be behind, is you stay at SKyline for spring- finishing tap and Physics and by the end of Spring you will hear if you get into UCLA- if you get in you can go in the summer and take one of your first upper division Bio courses or anything else you want to take at UCLA.
In this instance what you achieve by staying an extra semester is making yourself more competative in a HIGHLY selective major, you save yourself tuition and you finish physics which you will have to take at UCLA. Additionally in the summer there is 2 sessions so if you got accepted you can take 2 upper division bio courses (or more if you feel comfartable) and that will essentially put you at the same place as if you transfered for Spring to UCLA.

aznboy, talk to joyce lee. she's the best counselor who actually knows her stuff.

and you probably dont know me since i never took a class with you. i go to CSM full-time now since i finished my TAP and everything at skyline but i do go to skyline for 1 class.

Does anyone know which majors UCI and UCSB will be open for winter applicants??
I will have met the requirements to transfer either as an English or History major by this time.
