UC work study

I got accepted to UCLA, UCSB and UCSD. UCSD is where I am going to go... but I have a question. LA and SB both offered me 2000 in work study. UCSD didn't offer me any. I suppose it wont be too difficult to get a job on campus without work study, but I really wanted it. Should I appeal the offer asking for work-study and show them SB and LA's aid offers? Would that work and is it worth it?

bump… anyone have an opinion?

why don’t you go to LA? it’s a much better school anyway.

You might want to post this in the UC General Link or UC Santa Barbara under “Colleges”.

it may just be that san diego doesn’t offer work study to incoming freshmen (the theory being that they want them to have a chance to settle into college life without having to worry about reporting to a job).

of course, that doesn’t stop u from looking for a job if u really need one, but i’d call the financial aid office and ask what their policy is on this.

The problem is that WS funding is extremely limited. Once a school has awarded the WS funds they have, then they have no more. My daughter was really disappointed to not get WS this year as she is eligible, had a job lined up, and filed FAFSA really early. When she went in to ask why they said she is eligible and the only reason she did not get it was because she was selected for verification and in the couple of weeks it took to get that in and processed they ran out of WS funds.

It is worth asking them if they have any available or if there is a waiting list in case someone turns theirs down. At my daughter’s school it is almost impossible to fins an on campus job without WS.

I got WS ($2800) at UCSD first year, but I didn’t use it.
I couldnt find any lab job.
Now one month before school ends I found one in my major.
However I didnt get WS for summer, so I afraid that I will loose my job.
I dont know what to do?
