UCAL Berkeley?

Hey guys!

So, I’ll be applying to UCAL Berkeley for my pre-med college and was just wondering whether any students or applicants would be willing to give me any feedback!

I’m currently a student of Class of 2016 at TAMS (basically, an early college program situated in Texas), and I got into TAMS after my freshman year of high school, compared to the norm of after sophomore year.

My GPA is 3.75 (out of 4.0), and I’m co-leader of the High School Tutoring Group and secretary of Amnesty International at TAMS. I do swimming and piano after school and over the summer.

I’m also doing research on developmental anatomy and cell differentiation during my senior year.

I took the SAT and ACT+Writing, so here are my stats for both of them.

SAT Total: 2070
Math: 760
Reading: 700
Writing: 610

ACT Composite score: 32
Math: 34
Reading: 29
English: 34
Science: 31
Combined English/ Writing: 33 (Essay score of 10)

I’m also planning to take the SAT 2 in Biology M, Math 2, and Japanese in October!

Being a doctor has been my dream since I was 9 years old, and I haven’t wavered even once. UCAL Berkeley is my goal college, so like I said before: If any students or applicants come across this, I would really appreciate it if you guys gave me some feedback!

And good luck to all college applicants!

You look like a competitive applicant, but UCB is a very tough admit. You need to calculate your UC GPA using only AP/IB classes from 10-11th grades for the extra honors points. http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator

Compare your stats to the Freshman class this year and since you are OOS, expect to be at or above the average.

Also, will your family be able to afford the OOS costs at UCB, around $55K+/year with little to no financial aid? Run the NPC to see what your costs will be. Figure on $23K/year OOS fees + your EFC.

Good Luck.

Agree with @Gumbymom ^^^^^^
Your SAT and ACT, for Berkeley are a little lower than what they normally see in competitive applicants.

You won’t get any financial aid/scholarships as an OOS student, so make sure your parents can afford full fees as noted by @Gumbymom ^^^^^^. This will be very expensive.
