No - if you’ve not figured it out, go to the UK student college site similar to this one and there is a sticky thread under Durham that tells you how to sign in using your UCAS ID and Pin and see college allocation. If you can’t do that, I think e-mails will go out in a week, maybe, from the various colleges- I think that only based on comments students on that site made.
@Dodgers1 Thank you. We figured it out this morning, she got St. Mary’s. She’s bummed about no castle, but when she toured her guide was from Mary’s so she took her there and she says it is quite close to all the science buildings.
@VickiSoCal Glad she got confirmation. From what I’ve read most students are happy with whichever college they are assigned. Overall, students are happy at Durham. All the best.
@VickiSoCal, Glad you guys figured it out. From what I saw online, St Mary’s is a pretty, popular college. My child was allocated to St Cuth’s. He’s not visited Durham campus yet. It sounds like your daughter has- did she like it?
Yes, she liked it a lot, but she also liked St. Andrews and she has unconditional from both. Hard to decide. This unofficial guide is kind of fun and comments on all the colleges.
@VickiSoCal This is wonderful! Thank you.
@VickiSoCal my child also has an unconditional to St Andrews, and (also Univ of Edinburgh). Leaning towards The link you posted wis fun!
She has a conditional at Edinburgh and she had a question about the condition and emailed admissions and they didn’t answer. Needless to say that was not a good impression.
I asked her last night- Durham or St. Andrews she said I DON’T KNOW! Then I said an d what if you also get in to Cal Poly? Well, that didn’t help.
Meant to write, “leaning towards Durham.” All three seem like solid, very interesting choices for different reasons. Yes, there is a lot to think about!
@Dodgers1 What courses did your child apply for? My son is on the fence about Edinburgh, Durham and Kings. He has some reservation about some lower student satisfaction (complaints about administration) at Edinburgh. This concerns me as well, given that he will be adjusting to an international setting. But we loved Edinburgh as a city and the Open Day was nice. No bad choices!
@christygb History and/or Archaeology depending on the university and the course. I agree Edinburgh is a great city!
I was rejected from Cardiff a few days ago which was fine as I wasn’t planning to go there, so now the choice is between Durham and Bristol… no clue what I’m going to do
@christygb I also got into St. Aidans! It wasn’t my first choice, but I do like it.
@cami2017 Congratulations on your two great choices! Wishing you the best in your decision. What courses?
Did anyone who apply to University College London or Imperial College London receive emails asking for their high school transcript or high school grades? If so, please reply to this. Even if you did not, please reply to this by telling me the university you are applying to and the course!!!
@FLtoPton I applied to both UCL and Imperial for biomedical sciences. I did not receive any emails asking for transcripts. I was accepted to UCL during the start of January, and nothing from Imperial yet.
Still no word from Bath. They are taking way longer than more selective universities. Very odd.
@VickiSoCal Not really. If you have offers from Durham and St Andrews it is unlikely you will not receive an offer from Bath. I think I am correct in saying that universities know when a candidate accepts a firm and insurance offer from other institutions, as such they then know the seriousness of the candidate to their institution. At the end of the day it is all about managing the numbers. It is important if you have no intention of attending a particular school then withdraw your application it is just the right and fair thing to do for all concerned. If Bath is your first choice, hang in there. Good luck.
Received an unconditional from Durham for Combined Honors in Social Sciences. It is definitely one of my top choices. To those of you who previously got offers from Durham, how long after getting your offer did you receive your college allocation? Thanks!
They only started college allocations about a week ago, so for my daughter who was accepted in the fall it was a long wait. You should be faster.
99% she s not going to Durham. Biomedical Sciences does not have enough (really any) chemistry for her.
@FLtoPton, My son was accepted at UCL for psychology last year… then attempted to defer–but accidentally enrolled, instead–and he was never asked for transcripts/high school grades. He didn’t address the problem of accidental enrollment until it was too late to defer, so he had to reapply for 2017 entry, and this time he also applied to two additional UCL programs – Psychology and Language Sciences and Psychology with Education. He received unconditional offers for both programs, and no high school grade reports were requested.
