Still no news from Edinburgh for us
there are some unis that do âgraduate entryâ:
Barts and The London School of Medicine, Queen Maryâs (UofL)
Birmingham
Bristol
Cambridge
ICL
KCL
Liverpool
Newcastle
Nottingham
Oxford
Southampton
St Georgeâs (UofL)
Swansea University
Warwick
Some take international students (Warwick for example), others donât (eg, Bristol)- youâd have to research their requirements.
Graduate entry schemes are very, very competitive. Most would still require a strong chemistry background, and that 3 in the chem AP would continue to be a problem. Possibly this particular student would be best off in the US, where going on to med school would be a more realistic possibility.
My D received an offer from Newcastle today for Comp Sci. She just has to submit her AP and SAT subject tests scores already reported on UCAS and graduate from high school!
Congrats @KaffeineKitty! All offers received now? We have 3 out of 5.
Still waiting on St Andrewsâthe last one.
Has anyone heard back from Durham, Warwick, Kingâs, or Bristol yet? I submitted my app about a week ago and havenât received conformation from any of them. Wondering if I should email them or give it a few more daysâŠ
Email them about what? Thereâs people here who applied to those schools over a month ago and havenât heard.
@VickiSoCal Sorry, post was really vague. I meant to ask if should I email them to make sure they received my application, as none have sent any form of conformation. Iâm obviously not expecting any decisions for a few months, just am worried that they didnât receive my app
If ucas said they did, they did. Mine applied to 5 about 6 weeks ago and not all schools sent something.
@saskey12, universities answer at the own pace. My dâs second choice was Durham, but UCL made an offer right away so that was her backup. Then she got her offer at Cam in January, 3 months before she got one from Durham, which was then moot.
@saskey12 , Yes, DD has offers from both Kingâs and Bristol (applied in September). It could be very frustrating to just wait.
I believe UCAS allows you to withdrawal from a choice. This could work if you have offers from your first and second choices (firm and insurance) since there would be no point in waiting for the other offers to come in.
@KaffeineKitty Good point⊠Last year at my daughters school, a kid applied ED to an Ivy was accepted then received an offer from Oxbridge in January. CC was negligent for not following up with the student to withdraw the Oxbridge application. If you know you have no intention of attending the university please withdraw your application, it is the fair and decent thing to do.
Finally got an offer from Edinburgh on the condition of getting a 4 on AP Calc. So 3 unconditional and one conditional offer so far
Congrats Montefiore!
Also, now that you have gotten your acceptances, you should try and attend as many of the Admitted Students Days as feasible. While some British towns (eg, Bath, Exeter or Edinburgh) are no brainers as University towns, some are more acquired tastes, particularly in the North of England (although, personally, I am a big fan of the Northern Cities and their people, particularly Leeds and Manchester).
Still 1 for 5 (Edinburgh conditional) over here.
2 out of 5 for me, conditional for City Uni of London, unconditional for U Aberdeen. Still waiting to hear back from Kingâs, Edinburgh, and St. Andrews
@KaffeineKitty Did your kid apply for pure CS or like AI&CS, etc at Edinburgh? I got an offer for Edinburgh AI&CS so I was curious haha
