Hi,
I'm an HS senior applying to the English courses at UCL and KCL through UCAS. I have several questions regarding reporting test scores, etc.
1. The UCAS website says that I must report all test scores. Do I have to report both my sittings of the SAT?

Concerning the letter of reference: it looks as if the referee is the one to enter my predicted AP scores. If my English teacher writes the letter, how can she enter a predicted score for Psychology? Do both teachers contribute to this? Highly confused...

What is to be entered as the "grade" for the High School Diploma?

What is the "Exam Centre/Number"? Is this only for UK schools?

I am taking the SAT subject test for literature in October. Would it be best to wait for this score before sending off the application?

And concerning offers/acceptances:
Many US schools require a decision by May, but many UK unis will give a "conditional" offer (meaning I must receive certain AP scores to be enrolled). Can I accept a place at both a US school and a UK school while waiting for my AP scores and then drop one?

Nope. I’m from the UK but ended up going to the US. I kept a firm and an insurance offer on UCAS, and turned down all but one of my US acceptances. And then I applied for housing/signed up for classes etc at both. When I finally decided I was going to UVA, I withdrew my application from UCAS. It was no trouble at all. I don’t know what it would be like the other way round though, sorry!

Juki: You should be fine. I did the same thing. I applied from the US and firmed Edinburgh and had Imperial as an insurance. I had to wait until July to know my IB scores and while I was sure I’d met my offered, I wanted to have a backup. So I deposited at RPI just so that I’d have /somewhere/ to go. When I met my offer for Edinburgh, I just called up RPI and explained the situation to them, and told them I wouldn’t be attending. Everything was totally fine.

Hey Spriteling: Ha I was in the same situation as you: firmed Edinburgh and had Imperial as insurance! Had to decline KCL and UCL; that was a bit sad. So are you going to Edinburgh this year? I’m supposed to leave in 2.5 weeks…if my visa gets through. :-/

Juki: I was also originally in the situation you had described, with conditional offers from four UK unis based on my AP score results. After talking it through with my parents, I was planning on marking my firm/insurance choices on UCAS, and then waiting for US acceptances to come in the spring. I would have put down a deposit at a school here or in Canada, but Edinburgh eventually changed my offer to unconditional, based off of SAT II results from exams that I had already taken.

I know that King’s and UCL only accept AP/IB results though, so my guess would be that you’d definitely want to put down a deposit at a US school. That way, you’re guaranteed a place if, come July (or whenever the silly College Board decides to issue their scores :-P) you don’t meet your conditions.

Good luck with the UCAS process though! Feel free to inbox me if you have any more questions.

Can anyone please reply to the first post in this thread. Most of us have the same questions. (especially 1, 3, 4)

Also, where are the predicted scores to be filled and are they relevant only for AP classes or for normal school diploma courses as well? GPA also needs to be predicted or only AP’s?

Cannot visualise where the predicted scores will be added up within UCAS.

Also, where are the predicted scores to be filled and are they relevant only for AP classes or for normal school diploma courses as well? GPA also needs to be predicted or only AP’s?
Your school will send the predicted grades to the colleges. There are two parts to the UCAS application, your school’s and yours. When you have sent yours, your teacher who is providing the reference will also include the predicted grades, I think.

1. The UCAS website says that I must report all test scores. Do I have to report both my sittings of the SAT?
Yes.

**3. What is to be entered as the “grade” for the High School Diploma? **
I’m guessing 12 but I’m really not sure

4. What is the “Exam Centre/Number”? Is this only for UK schools?
It means your school where you took your qualifications aka High School Diploma. No, it’s not only for UK schools.

I am also in the process of filling out these applications… I hope you don’t mind if I ask some questions in this thread too…

@raquel921,
What SAT II scores did you get? I am interested in Edinburgh and am taking the SAT IIs next month…

If I did poorly on the writing section (probably due to scantron error) the first time I took the SAT but really well the second time, will universities be bothered by the first score?
