I don't really want to share rooms with anyone so I don't think the University Apartments are an option for me. Their single room ones are too expensive. I have search for rooms through craigslist but it seems like most of the rooms are like 10 or more blocks away from the campus. So I'm really considering just living somewhere else nearby a Bart station so I can just hop on the Bart or just buy the $300 student parking permit and drive. But does anyone know if its worth buying the student parking permit? I mean, will I find parking all the time or are they always full?

I decided to try to find an apartment close to an AC and use the classpass since we pay for it in our registration fees anyway. Free commute year round to school (not to mention anywhere else in the bay area) will end up saving so much money in the long run, plus I’ve read that parking is awful/not guaranteed, and property crime on cars is common.

I’m going to be living at home Will be BART-ing there and walking around probably.

My future roommate has been checking out stuff on Craig’s List near campus. We’re looking for something with 2 bedrooms and she’s found a bunch of prospective places. @Sgt Have you been looking for one bedrooms? Or only within a certain price range? If you’re not too picky about where you live, more people probably list extra rooms for rent in places that are already partially occupied than finding an entire single apt. Not sure though :/

We were planning on looking at places during CalSO but we don’t want to move until the beginning of August. Does that seem too early or is it better to find a place sooner?

I’ll either end up in Unit 3, Clark Kerr, or HOPEFULLLYYY Wada! I’m already renting a parking spot just down the street from Unit 2 haha.

And killmy, I think you guys would be cutting it close…because what if you dont find anything suitable during CalSo?!

Haha then we’d have to go back up and look again which isn’t a big deal. I just wasn’t sure if more people will list places later in the summer…

I wasn’t just looking for single bedroom apartments cause I don’t think there are too many. I also searched for those places with rooms partially occupied where you get your own room but shared kitchen and bathroom. Most of them seemed too far. I don’t know if I’m being overly picky but over 10 blocks is kind of far. That’s just to get to the campus gates…Some people also said to avoid certain areas. But seems like the northern part and west of campus is safer from what I’ve read here. Personally I wouldn’t wait until August. I think now is the best time since many UCB grads just left. I still haven’t checked the area since I just finished my finals. I’m planning on driving around this week.

Well i guess if time/money aren’t a huge concern, then rock on killmy.
