UCB and Stanford

These are the schools that I am down to.

I just checked UCLA's website and I did not get accepted.
I also did not get accepted to MIT and Cal Poly.
In addition, I didn't get into SJSU due to their lack of funding.
My only acceptance so far was UCD, because of the help of the ELC program.

So with that, what are my chances of getting in UCB or Stanford given my prior denials?

I am literally hitting my head against the wall because I do not understand how I was denied to so many schools.

Here's a short list of accomplishments:

I have an unweighted 4.00 GPA, 4.57 weighted
I've take almost every AP class my school has to offer and I am in line to be valedictorian
I got a 1970 on my SATs (I knew that was a little low, but I didn't think it was that bad..)
I was captain of the girls tennis team, played for 3 years
I am vice president of the robotics team, secretary last year
I do have community service hours, volunteered with the Red Cross for the past two summers.
I do believe my personal statements were not that bad, I spent three weeks working on them and 2 of my trusted English teachers said that they were very good.
And there's so much more I don't have time to list because I should be doing some work right now :/

I am really worried right now, I've been told constantly that I have a good chance of getting into UCB, but after getting denied to UCLA, I have lost a lot of confidence.

What are my chances of getting into these two schools?

P.S.

I am also considering appealing to UCLA, but I know the chances are slim, and I don't think I have any "new" or "compelling" information to add to my profile.

Any advice here?

What is your intended major? Your SAT II scores? Can I assume that you are in CA?

Sorry about your rejection. Your stats are pretty good.

Stanford looks like a stretch, but you're still a good candidate for Berkeley. Don't lose hope yet! :)

who has been reading these things because I can't believe how hard it is to get into certain schools these days. Good lord, maybe your SAT is a teeny bit lower than the norm, but the fact you didn't get into some of these schools is outrageous to me. You're a valedictorian for goodness sake - and they rejected you from Poly? THat's truly unfair.

@ goldstar

-Aerospace Engineering, but Mechanical for Berkeley
-730 US History, 670 Math II, 640 Chem
-Yes, I live in Northern California

I know my math score is a little low, but I was hoping they would consider my ap calculus score because I got a 5

-Thanks, I need all the positive feedback I can get right now :] All my parents had to say was "oh well." They don't realize how much hard work I've put in to these past 4 years :/

I am sorry, but judging from your results so far (what you told us to do), your chances for Stanford unless you have some hook particular to that institution are approx 1%.

You still have a shot at Berkeley though!

I've accepted the fact that I have a slim chance at Stanford.

I just put that out there because they are my last two schools.

But I sure hope I still have a shot at UCB...

hHallmark, sorry to have to agree with you that Stanford is a bit of a stretch. But, you do have a shot at UCB. Good luck.

hey, ur only going to end up at one school anyway. the rejections might as well be thought of as colleges that you didn't apply to. UCB is still an option, but hey, remember that you have somewhere to go no matter what the outcome is. UCD :)
