Anyone With a 3.7 GPA or lower apply for the school?

I applied to Berkeley with a 3.5 GPA. And I’m an inter-campus transfer…not too hopeful haha.

I have a 3.69 transferrable GPA and applied to both, but I have TAP at UCLA, so I’m hoping that helps!

I applied with a 3.6 GPA to UCB. Just really keeping my fingers crossed! lol

3.4 GPA for anthro. you never know I guess

Darling, People who have had 3.1/3.2 gpa’s get into uc berkeley and ucla just fine as long as their major istn impacted, for example “art” “Russian studies”. this isnt high school where you need a 3.8 plus gpa. If you have done classes toward ur major thats not impacted and finish igetc, im sure you can transfer to UC Berkeley as easy as “1,2,3”

^^^I think that’s a huge oversimplification, but yes if you apply to a major that’s less competitive, less popular you don’t have to compare yourself to average of the applicant pool which is typically 3.7+ for both UCLA and UC Berkeley. MOST of the majors are not impacted and the average GPA for those schools is still relatively high so I think saying you’re fine with a 3.1 to a non-impacted major is pretty ridiculous. If your GPA is well below the average to the point where you’re barely eligible to transfer to a UC (3.0-3.1) I think you’d still have be able to compensate in other areas: work experience, extra curriculars, your personal statement, exceptional talent (like for art) to have a favorable chance at acceptance. It certainly isn’t as easy as “1,2,3,”. Typically the acceptance rates for those less popular majors are higher but still with in a certain range from the average for the university as a whole. I don’t think UCB or UCLA have any majors where there are more than 10 applicants and a 75+% acceptance rate where you can assume it’ll be as easy to transfer as counting up from 1.

To answer the OP, I applied with a 3.67 to Berkeley as an Intergrative Biology major and UCLA as a Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology major. My GPA is slightly below the average admitted (3.71) for UCLA, but I like my chances because I think my ECs are pretty unique and I really went into depth about them in my personal statement, which I’d like to think would help. Not sure, where I stand with Berekely because they don’t release transfer stats, but I’m hoping my ECs/PS will help compensate for however far below the average I am.

I wish you guys well… I was in the same boat last year, fretting and stressing in front of College Confidential. I was accepted into UCLA (Music History) and Cal (Music), with a 3.3. I did not complete TAP or any transfer program. I chose UCLA. There is a lot of diversity at UCLA, and the pool of transfers is such an eclectic mix of people, backgrounds, and GPAs. Also, keep in mind there are fewer transfers this year, due to the economy. Good luck, and stay positive. Law of attraction. :)

3.76 gpa
Cal: poli sci 2/3 Pre Reqs so probably won’t get in

UCLA: philosophy 2/2 Pre Reqs available finished, scared that because no CC in my area offers it I’ll be **** out of luck… How long until UCLA guys?

Pavin, UCLA should be sending out around April 15/16 (I would guess).

And don’t sweat it; you’re in.

^last year UCLA was April 25th if I remember correctly.

Hopefully man! Haha did UCLA last year also state it’d be mid-april?

We need a UCLA countdown thread toooo

^Yes, UCLA stated a “mid-April” release last year and it was what most would consider late-April. I’d expect it to the same this year as well.

Ah, dang. Well, here’s to hoping it’s mid-April!

UCLA states clearly on their site that decisions will be posted in late-April.

"Dear Justine:

We have received your application for Fall Quarter 2012. However, admission decisions have not yet been made for our transfer applicants. We plan to begin notifying transfer applicants of our decisions starting in late April. Please check with us again around that time."

I don’t see how someone’s statement directed at you is information that’s “clearly on their site.” :P

But, anyway, here’s where I was pulling the mid-April stuff from: [Decision Notification - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/applicant/notify.htm)

And, by the way, having checked that same site a week or so ago, it used to say “mid-April,” not “mid-to-late April”! Even so, “late-” bit notwithstanding, there’s still the “mid-” bit, and I’m still hopin’ for mid-!

It isn’t “someone’s statement” directed at me; sign into the decision site and you will see it for yourself. Additionally, that is nothing but supplementary evidence to support the “late-April” statement, which you will be able to find in various places on the UCLA website. Regardless, we’ll find out in a few weeks anyway.
