Haha, I love sakky posts.

Mr. X: I dunno, I think that the new burger at McD's isn't good.
sakky: Actually.........

[Three pages later, with exhaustive evidence and argumentation....]

...so that's why I think that the burger is decent

Hey, it's always better to be too thorough than to be too glib.

Traditionally, it has turned out that a considerable portion of applicants got into one but rejected from the other.. (this is excluding all the 4.25 2400's, 800 on 4 SAT2's, recruit for football, 1000+ community hours, cured cancer, etc.)

I will not say that getting into both is impossible, but I do think it is significantly harder to get into both than into one.

The reason for this is simple, UCLA and UCB aren't just "great schools" whose criteria for admission are one in the same; after decades of both being top schools, each looks for different things among different applicants.

yeap, i got into both too

just got into both this year too.

I don't know how accurate a telling of history that is, but whatevs.

It has seemed to me that UCLA and UCB is just a numbers game which can help certain applicants and hurt others. Out of State applicants also have a tougher admissions standard in general; at my school it seemed the work that would get you into just outside the top 5-6 colleges is necessary to get into Berkeley. Not sure about UCLA.

My GPA and Essays are excellent. My SAT is good but not all that stellar (I'm not a good big test taker - I failed my driving test numerous times). But I'm very passionate about what I want to the point of taking many college courses on it, studying topics myself, getting an internship, etc (I obviously conveyed this in my essays). I was accepted in ULCA. What do you think of my chances at Cal?

Yeah, I got into both. It really has no relationship.

Roy...what about your extracurriculars?

Err.. not much to talk about. A usual list but two that I actually did something in was: Speech and Debate (one year only though - 9th) and peer tutoring in Comp Sci (my major).

But it's even better to be concise and meaningful. ;)

I'm just giving you a hard time.

roy.. u're freakin just like me!!

1) not that great a test taker I guess, SATs aren't stellar at 2000 (although i did '800' the Math 2 and get a 750 on physics in the SAT 2's)

AND I failed my driving test like 3 times.. ughh

2) GPA and essays were pretty good I believe, especially for my major.. which brings me to number 3

3) I'm a Comp sci major!

did u get into UCLA?

1) SAT I: 640 W 680 M 740 R (One month before it was 630 W 700 M 680 R)
2) I failed my DT thrice and retook the written test. I'm going in to take it for the fourth time some time soon. I'm so stupid. I make the silliest of mistakes...
3) GPA UW: 3.95 GPA W (UC Capped): 4.303. Essays were good.
4) Me too! I actually want to enter the gaming industry (video games not poker). It's not some silly kiddie desicions. I wanted to intern at many developer studios but I wasn't 18 yet. I am developing a game of my own. I self taught a lot of game development things. I wrote about it on the essays of course :D
5) Yep! You?

Are you Asian too? :p I'm Indian.

Please...vagrant and roy...consider learning the bus schedule. It will save the lives of possibly two, maybe even three people in the long run. :p

haha no not Asian.. just caucasian.. (half-French also, I grew up there so I'm bilingual)

yea the gaming industry's pretty narly.. I remember I started out programming VERY basic stuff on my calc.. and then one day I made pong.. and then minesweeper.. and now I'm working on Tetris..

I'm the ONLY one at my school who's even thinking of anything to do with programming; last year I got a 5 on the Computer Science test and not only was I the first to ever get a 5 from my school, I was the only person who even passed it last year lol. Anyways yea.. let me kno where u end u goin man..

Ha ha. I know how to drive, I swear. The people giving me the tests were prejudiced! (it was silly mistakes, I swear! And once the turn signals died on me and they told me to just pull back into the DMV and end it. :p)

I started programming on Win 95 :p. I first saw/used computers when I was 10 so I really didn't have much of a chance. I never made minesweeper as I'm in the .00000001% that hates it. I made pong, tetris, and a generic tank game of my own. I'm currently making the sequel (that will sell approx. 1 copy - to me), which will include FPS versions.

I aced AP Comp Sci class and test with relative ease too. I even tutored others in the class, while I was taking the class! I also had the highest grade in all (save one) the prog. classes I took at a CC and I was the youngest. So yes, you see how it goes.

Je parle francais aussi, mais pas tres bon! Je suis en Francais 4 dans ma
