This is something you should ask your counselor. You cannot TAP to Berkeley but you can still TAG. (I do not know if Berkeley accepts TAG) You can TAG to Berkeley by completing the IGETC before transfer. You can TAP to UCLA but it requires you to complete the requirements of the honors program. Talk to your counselor asap about this.

I don’t have one.You know how things work in India.
Is it done now or when I’ll complete my 2 years at a CC.
Any dates?

It would be when you attend the CCC that has a TAP agreement with the University you plan on attending. Talk to a counselor, attend the workshops. You can look up information right now searching for “UCLA TAP community colleges” to learn more information.

I TAP for UCLA in Feb this year for transferring this fall. If I remember correctly, I applied for TAG to UCSD a few months before the Nov deadline for UC applications.

I remember now that Berkeley has a completely different system from other UCs. Like UCLA, (at least for engineering) they “strongly discourage IGETC” which needs to be completed to be able to TAG. So, I am pretty sure Berkeley do not accept TAG.

I have to complete 5 honors classes at my CCC to be eligible for TAP. I had to see my counselor, had her made and signed a paper, and it then signed by my honors coordinator. I honestly do not know how you can TAP in India. I heard that TAP may make your application more noticable but if your GPA is below 3.5 then it’s practically useless.

TAP for UCLA depends on your CC on terms of time. My CC required a certain GPA (3.3-3.4) and completion of their honors program. Check with your CC on the requirements of their TAP to UCLA

TAP only gives you a priority for UCLA (and an alternative major) so your nationality nor citizenship nor your need for aid counts for this (save that for FAFSA and UC apps).

TAG guarentees a slot for you as long as you fufill their requirements. This applies to all the UC’s except UCLA and Cal. However you can only TAG into one UC at a time. This must be done before the end of October (I believe)

I dont think there is a TAP for Cal yet, but I hear its going to roll out starting 2014.

Overall the best and the safest way to find out about the TAP / TAG program, check with your counsler.

I’m in the Berkeley TAP program and I’m only a first year CC student. There is not TAG program for ucb or ucla, and soon to be ucsd. I’m pretty sure the TAP program for Berkeley is only at a few selected CCs though, talk to a counselor at your school, or contact the TAP program administrators and ask if it’s available for your school
