UCB CS through L&S versus COE

I know getting into L&S vs COE for undergrad is much easier. I also know CS is offered in both schools. I’m pretty sure CS through COE is out of reach for me. How difficult is it to get above a 3.3 in the prerequisite courses in CS? What percent of people get to actually declare CS as their major in L&S?

This is open to anyone, but specifically for people at UCB or have extensive knowledge of the intricacies of the CS program.

Essentially, I want to know its feasible to apply to L&S, then try to get into CS.

Thanks

Historical grade distributions for UCB CS 61A, 61B, 70:

https://www.berkeleytime.com/grades/?course1=2321-all-all&course2=2323-all-all&course3=2327-all-all

Note 1: A+, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, etc…

And those are the only three courses used for the 3.3 GPA to enter CS? And another question, if you have over a 3.3 cumulative in those classes, is it automatic CS entry? Or is that the prerequisite GPA to be able to apply for CS entry?

Yes, those three courses and the GPA in them determine whether you enter the L&S CS major.

@kjake2000

Please keep in mind that they are really strict in terms of 3.3 GPA cutoff.
A friend of my son applied with 3.2 average GPA (2 B+ and 1 B).
He was rejected and denied again after he filed petition.

I will keep this in mind, if admitted to UCB L&S, I would proceed on this path. I would likely study the coursework ahead of time to help me get the 3.3. I feel if I study all the coursework ahead of time, achieving the 3.3 should be doable. @StevenToCollege
