UCB EECS vs. UCLA

We are faced with this difficult choice. On one hand, EECS has incredible reputation but it also has such competition. On the other hand, we were also so impressed by the curriculum at UCLA for CS/EE students. We also like the fact that no classes are taught by TA and the campus as well as the dorm is so beautiful.

Are EECS classes taught by TA in UCB? Is help easily available (i.e., access to professors, instructors)? If you want to go to graduate school, does it make sense to attend a very competitive school and then you end up lower on the curve. That is you cannot attain the required GPA or recommendation letters from professors for your application to graduate school?

lectures are always by professors, and discussions/labs are either taught by gsi's (graduate student instructors) or ugsi's (really bright undergraduates). in most cases it will be a gsi and not a ugsi who teaches your section

all professors have office hours

How is it done at UCLA? Are TAs not used even for discussions and labs or is their system similar in that professors do lectures while TAs handle discussions and labs?

It seems like our little brother is angry about something. Does anyone know what it is?

Seems like all the public school bashing is coming from private ivies. Yet why??? is the real question.

What does my questions and answers from others have anything to do with public school bashing?

whats EECC?

EECS stands for Electrical Engineering/Computer Science. One of the nerdiest school in UCB.

It's the toughest major to get into at Berkeley and is more respected than Stanford's EE.

If I were in that person's position, I'd choose Berkeley for sure. His future will be changed dramatically if he goes Cal!
