UCB Engineering Major

any one Engineering major here? let's talk about it. is it the hardest major in ucb? I heard the engineering college requires students to finish their degree within two and half year.

EECS here, supposedly the hardest one in COE… I am so anxious…

wow, that one is hard as my friend told me. he is EECS there too. everyday he works for his hw or lab until 3am. He said he’s very busy and no time to relax.

I’m a mechanical engineering major going to cal in the fall. I’m kinda worried about how hard its going to be but at the same time I want to see if I can make it.

That can’t be true…

hHallmark?? really?? but many people said that

I’m not certain on this, I’m only an incoming freshman, but I’m pretty sure they can’t require you to get a degree in 2 1/2 years. The misconception might be because many who come in to the CoE graduate early due the the fact that many of them come in with an insane amount of AP credits. I’ve never heard anything about that 2 1/2 years thing. Who told you that and did they explain?

The 2 1/2 year requirement is for transfer students, not freshmen.

physicsfem, what you meant there is 2 1/2 year thing? is that true?

im taking cs 61a right now at ucb and the class is awesome. though it isn’t an easy-a class, it is very well-structured and the GSIs are really helpful.

on the other hand, im also taking industrial engineering 160, and it has been a disappointment to me. The class is not organized and the book does a better job explaining concepts than the instructor.

no one can confirm the 2 and half year thing?

From COE Transfer FAQ:

Do I really have to graduate in 4 semesters?
Yes, our program is one which we feel our junior transfer students should be able to complete in 4 semesters. Advising is designed to help the student stay on track. However, if necessary, with approval from the Dean, an additional semester may be granted. Students who need additional time due to illness, work or learning disabilities need to meet with the Dean about additional time. We keep to this time limit because of the impacted nature of the College of Engineering. For every student that stays an additional semester, someone else will not be able to be admitted.

is engineering major easy to find job without the master degree?
