I also got a waitlist email.
Received the same email and no status update. I think it was sloppy work and an error because you don’t put all the appeals on waitlist when you already have a long waitlist. But I can’t figure out why they didn’t out right reject the majority of those on appeal and instead create a list of 50 to draw from.
I wouldn’t believe they are making an error. If they had, they would have instantly updated appealers right after that email. So I believe there is a reason as to why they did that, and I am not giving up until they flat out reject me.
Also. If you believe this is the official rejection letter for appealers, and there is no other way of getting accepted, then rescind your application so those who believe that there is still hope will have an opportunity to get accepted. It is clear at this point you guys do not want to progress in the application status anymore. Thank you.
Waitlist email. I think everyone got the same email. I haven’t heard of anyone getting anything other than the waitlist email.
It just doesn’t make sense for them to put every.single.person on the waitlist. That’s usually around 900 people. If only half received this email, it would make sense, but they didn’t.
Theoretically those who got rejected just might not be in this thread. Improbable but possible lol
There is one person on here that said that they didn’t get the email, but they haven’t received anything yet
Waitlist email
Also got the waitlist email. Does anyone know what’s going on with that? It seems very strange for Cal to be sending out these to everyone.
I searched last year: last msg is below
Rejected
in UC Berkeley Rejection Appeals (Class of 2023) Comment by … May 2019
and for year 2018, last msg is 7/2, someone said, rejection letter received.
New email, titled “CORRECTION”:
“We sent you a message yesterday letting you the status of our class. We referenced anticipating notifying all students their waitlist status by the end of June 2020. This also applies to students who submitted an appeal to their admissions decision. You will still be under consideration should space become available.”
Like I said, Berkeley just had poor word choice. We aren’t on the waitlist, we’re still in a league of our own.
Just received this :“We sent you a message yesterday letting you the status of our class. We referenced anticipating notifying all students their waitlist status by the end of June 2020. This also applies to students who submitted an appeal to their admissions decision. You will still be under consideration should space become available.”
Yes, I just received it too. We are on waitlist.
@BBCCHS you can’t really use previous years as a gauge here-- all bets are off in the midst of the pandemic.
It said “You will still be under consideration should space become available.” So this means we’re on waitlist, not off waitlist.
sry, actually i just try to prove, it is different this year thx for your reply. and i got the same email too.
@user_8089110 we definitely are not being considered as if we were part of the waitlist pool. That just doesn’t make sense for them to do. We are still separate. The email implies that ALL appealers received this email, and there’s no way Berkeley decided to put all appealers on the waitlist. If we were going to be combined with the waitlist, they would have SAID SO. We aren’t meant to read into every word the colleges write. They’re just giving us facts. Waitlist status is simply referring to the fact that we are waiting, and that we could at any point become accepted or rejected.
They just sent a confirmation email:
“Dear Maxim,
We sent you a message yesterday letting you the status of our class. We referenced anticipating notifying all students their waitlist status by the end of June 2020. This also applies to students who submitted an appeal to their admissions decision. You will still be under consideration should space become available.
Sincerely,
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
UC Berkeley”
When they say “notifying all students of their waitlist status”, wouldn’t that also include those who appealed, therefore we are on some sort of waitlist? This whole thing is so confusing.
Suffice to say, I don’t think are chances of getting in have gone up or down since we were given our appeal applicant status. Wording of the email is rather strange, don’t you guys think?
