Everything is still up in the air tbh… does anyone think we still even have a chance at admissions??
@bryanngocpham I’ll be honest, it’s not looking very good. Everything seems contingent on people leaving spots they’d already accepted. As it stands, it’s beyond us to accurately ponder our chances.
Also, if international students are withdrawing their applications, doesn’t it mean pending international waitlisters/appealers get a look in? I mean they have expressed an unwavering interest of enrolling - hence, choosing to be on appeal and waitlists? Just my thoughts on this matter.
As of now, isn’t international travel still banned? And has anyone heard of trump’s China immigration ban or something? Will that affect Berkeley’s numbers?
Withdrawn applications will impact their numbers, especially if they go online. This really only impact the waitlist now though. They seem to be accepting a bit more appeals this year than normal, but they have an entire waitlist in case a lot of kids drop. Can I ask what your guys’ SAT scores were and if you added any additional information into your appeal? You don’t have to go into detail unless you want to just a yes/no would be nice
I didn’t really include any new achievements because they only gave me 500 words )): I had so much more to say (stuff included in my UCI appeal and got in) idek how I’d get in when I only have 500 words to describe what happened to me
FACTS!!! I had to cut out so much to fit the 500 words limit… i got into ucla with the original because no word count but for berk i had to sacrifice
Lol imagine having new achievements to talk about, can’t relate
Hey all I’m a waitlist but thought I’d pass on some info, I know a professor at Berkeley that says they will for sure have classes with 50+ students be online, and they will announce something official June 22.
Most research public schools such as the UCs are are on target. See this article https://www.insidehighered.com/admissions/article/2020/06/15/public-research-universities-and-some-regional-state-colleges-had?utm_content=buffer47293&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=IHEbuffer&fbclid=IwAR2iAk_zAwrtt9zfYEloz36GPfotAzzQq6yY7sso1WfWaDi1n2fZW1ydYGU
https://news.berkeley.edu/coronavirus/ Students will continue online until June 1 with exceptions. AO just said that decisions come out every weekend on MAP@Berkeley; did anyone hear back?
Do you think it’s worth it to send in a LOCI to Berkeley?
No lmao they stopped putting email addresses for our local AOs because of too many LOCIs. They are getting annoyed.
big sad loll
actually had important update after i submitted my appeal
@Iliketurtles47 wait have they actually been coming out every weekend?
UCB’s Covid 19 statement: https://sa.berkeley.edu/covid19/fall2020
We may be hearing soon now that the deadline for Request for Deferment has passed (June 15).
They said every weekend, but I didn’t hear anyone get in or rejected. Do not send a LOCI, they said they don’t even read them anymore. The admissions email isn’t replying at this time and will send you an automated “we are not monitoring this email right now” email.
Well, let’s all just hope for the best!
Y’all i literally just cried cuz I want to go to Berkeley so badly ???
