Thanks

Saw your post in the other thread.

Did you complete or show completion of prerequisites? Breadth requirement? Language requirement?

I have everything done

I honestly do not know why.

Maybe it was my essay but i showed it to some current Haas students and they said it was what they were looking for.

Is there a point to an appeal? Cause if not then I’m gonna drop my physics class and take it next semester and reapply for Fall 2012 (I’m a 2 year applicant).

I’m sorry you didn’t get in, but competition was tough this year. I dunno if an appeal is worth it if you don’t have any new and compelling info. Good luck.

What is compelling new info???

Like if you forgot to put something on your app

Your GPA was below the average but not that off. Compelling information could be what @shinra said, or a summer internship, awards, publications, etc. Something that if submitted would give a strong case for reconsideration.

For my appeal can i just make an argument as to why i should get in? I know i finished everything i took 14 units in the 5 week session and i did 21 units this last fall. I worked my ass off for the last 2 years to make sure i was eligible but I don’t understand why? My ECs were good and my essays i thought they were good. I just really don’t understand.

EDIT: They said not to include anything from internships or letters of recommendations

Yeah, so if you send in an appeal that basically just says “I think I deserve to get in” that won’t work. You need to let them know something that they didn’t already know when looking at your app.

what should i include account statements from my trading accounts? I mean for the next semester they are taking breadth courses away and taking away 1 of the english requirements and adding a Calc 2. Like they saw my course load and everything.

I wouldn’t.

I would call and ask for a specific reason.

On a side note, I’m surprised internship information is not allowed. A summer internship is more relevant than going to a business club meeting once a week.

that’s what i said and i pointed it out on my essays. I’m sure if i call on Monday i can get a quick response. But it’s just a little frustrating.

sounds like my GPA was very competitive but missing the 3rd year of HS Spanish did me in.

WHERES INVESTMENT?!

i wanna know if he got in
!

^^

LMAO. The residential Haas applicant. I doubt he’ll be back on here. Haven’t seen him since late fall.

asdf aesfaw3r2qr3 q3

I also applied to Haas

Stats:

Accumulative GPA - 3.94
Major(GPA) - 4.00
Extra C - Church Scout Activities Director
Started own eCommerce Business
Business Club Member
Personal Statements - Well written, had people revise
Breadth - Completing 4/7 Spring 2011 Semester
PreReqs - Completing 2 Spring 2011 Semester

Denied.

Should I appeal? I think I’m a really qualified applicant.

my friend was denied to Hass.

4.00. prereqs and breadth done. international student. he didnt have stellar EC and essay, so i think that is the reason. in my opinion, Cal weights EC and essays more than ucla does.

anyway, he is gonna join ucla with me.

Got into Haas.

3.9
ECs were strong:
Intern at high tech firm and aerospace defense organization
Business Club President
PTK officer
Founded a consumer product company that I will not tell you the name of. ;D
Every prereq done.

Essays were amazingly exaggerated and over the top epic. If you can’t write a good essay about business you’re chances will be lowered significantly.

Awards were legit.

I’m not on these boards much. Ever since I stopped worrying about Haas I’ve been having a social life for once. Sorry to the people who got denied. Haas isn’t that great though. 60k starting salary and 70% graduates have jobs after 3 months since graduation. Very low compared to engineering.

Hey, congrats Investment!!! I know how badly you wanted to get into Haas. I’ll also be at Cal in fall. So excited!!!
