Hi guys I have an urgent question. So I received this email from berkeley yesterday:
Thank you for submitting a 2015-2016 Residence Hall application. Due to high demand, your requested spaces are unavailable and we are unable to send you an offer at this time. The instructions on the Housing Application stated to “Be flexible in your housing choices. It is important to indicate “any room size - any location” as one of your preferences. Failure to do so will void your housing priority!”
At this point, we advise you to start looking for alternate housing options as we were unable to offer a space to you based on your preferences. If you would like an offer for a different room type than those currently listed on your application, you can update your preferences on your application. We will send additional offers at a later date if space allows.
If your housing plans have changed and you no longer need a housing offer, please contact our office so that your application can be cancelled.
Does this pretty much mean I have no hope of staying in dorms?
@imprincess, sorry to hear that. Berkeley does have that rule and they note it on the housing page (as I recall the page before the actual sign-up). I wondered at the time why they just don’t make it a de facto rule. Why do they make people add it? Why doesn’t it just auto-populate into the last panel?
Considering the residential housing prices are so high at Berkeley, I assume there may be some drop-outs. Do you know about the Berkeley housing page on FB? I’m not quite sure where it is but if you go to the uc berkeley transfer FB page, it’s listed somewhere. Good luck!
