UCB or Cal Poly? Help me choose!

Yes people, this is yet another help-me-choose thread. :stuck_out_tongue:

help me choose from this list: (top two are my favorites)

UCB - Undeclared Letters & Science
Cal Poly SLO - General Engineering

UCSB - Chemical Engineering
UCSD - Environmental Engineering
UCD - MAE Materials Engineering

I have no clue what I am going to major in, though I am leaning towards engineering (is it an asian thing?). You can also see that I don’t even know what field of engineering I want in. hehhhh

Help a clueless Californian!

BERKELEY. If not for the obvious reasons, then simply because you are undeclared here. It is VERY VERY hard to switch majors at cal poly, and if you arnt SURE you want to do engineering, its better to be undeclared somewhere else.

Berkeley in a heartbeat. No question. DO IT!!!

If for whatever compelling reason you do not go to Berkeley, i highly advise you don't, then definately go with Cal Poly SLO over the other schools if you are really interested in engineering. You'll love CalPoly's engineering undergrad.

I'm a CP student, and do know a few people here who chose cal poly engineering over UCB. It's not unheard of to choose cal poly in this situation, but I'd go for berkeley. It is more expensive, but it is more prestigious and you can't beat the athletics.

berkeley, no question about it

Ahhh thanks for input everyone.

I heard a lot about UCB, and I think I have developed aversion to it..some things I dont like about berkeley is that its overrated in bayarea, too close to SF where I live, and asians (I'm asian myself, so dont take offense :-)).

my sibling goes to cal poly (ee major)...I have wanted to go to cal poly since 10th grade. But I don't even know why I like calpoly.

tough!

go to cal poly

well at C.P you will be a minority as the majority of students are white. not that its a bad thing but the asian body isn't huge there, but if you think that thats better than going to a school with many asians then thats you. personally, i wouldnt want to go to a school where i was the minority.

Berkeley is a school people dream about going to. I wish i had the opportunity to go to that school, i never made the grades. dont get me wrong cal poly is great and i will be attending there next year but Berkeley is just on a whole other level.

Hum...the pendullum swings back and forth...
btw, I have full need-based aid scholarship from ucb (though it wouldn't change much since my efc is high)
I hope I don't sound weird, because I am really having a hard time choosing.

13351,put the name of the schools in a hat and choose. Sometimes randomness does work.(lol)

Cal poly would have actually costed me more than going to UCSD. UCSD actually gave me grants, but cal poly didnt.

http://www.random.org

LOL.

Make your pick from there.

From what I hear, it's really tough to transfer to engineering in Berkeley. So...your choice.
