UCB or UCLA

I was intrested in majoring in psychology and after receiving my BA degree I will apply to pharmacy school. However, I wanted to know which school has a better classes for psychology, UCB or UCLA. And when I refer to classes I mean the classes one must take in order to obtain their BA degree.

Fusionice662, this is purely anecodtal information, but I have heard UCB's psych program is phenomenal. From what I know, UCLA's program is more focused on biopsy than pure psych (I applied to biopsy as my secondary major). This may or may not be your thing.

better classes? exactlywhat does this mean?

I think the OP is just asking which school has a better quality/ more presitigious program.

in terms of prestige you can't judge the programs in schools like UCLA or UCB both should be fine.....

^true that...but I think like Berkeley Engineering or Business (Haas) or English, UCB has the slight edge...

edge as in what? do you mean to say that Berkeley engineering or Haas has some super secret courses which you can only find in Berkeley and not anywhere else? I can't speak for business but the engineering curriculum is set by ABET so it's more or less the same everywhere....which means you will get to know the same thing in Cal Poly SLO, UCSD, UCLA or UCB...the edge you speak of is probably due to funding, research, and the number of PhDs in faculty which has no bearing on the eduation part...

Nah Citan, I'm just speaking of the general consensus regarding such programs. I speak mostly from hearsay so I can't really argue with you. I'm just saying most people would choose Haas over UCLA business or Berk engineering over UCLA's, and many people would likewise choose UCLA over Berkeley for their intended area of study. So basically, I'm not attacking UCLA by any means (I would have loved to go there) Peace and CC Love for All...

Berkeley just has the prestige. Educational-wise, for undergrad, it's pretty much the same at both UC. It's not like the profs will be any more dedicated to teaching, they just wanna go do their research. We'll have to pretty much self study on our own at both UC.

Word ee_stu!

I think you'd enjoy UCLA more than UCB although UCB does have a very slight edge because of the name. You can't beat LA though in the UC system... city life is nice if you are into that stuff.

Fusion, why don't you major in chem or something similar? It should make for better prep for when you go to pharm school.

True, maybe i'll do that. However, I was told that alot of people who go into pharm school major in a type of science, and that pharm schools like to see people who major in something diffrent than everyone else.

and I think that psych has more of the same classes for pre pharm than chem, not 100% sure though

If i major in psych are the classes on a curve?

Probably not
