UCB Philosophy or psychology?

Hey there, I'm new to this site; been reading comments on the forums for a month now and thought I'd try my own thread.

I need some help regarding which major to chose and what my chances are for either.

I left the states for France upon graduating high school- I wanted to become fluent in the language. I worked there as a nanny for one year. I am now attending a CC, my GPA is a 3.61, I work 30 hrs/ week as a waitress and care for my mom whom has Parkinson's disease. I m also nearing completion with a book that my mother and I started years ago concerning her addictions and our past to present relationship- how we have healed.

I am very interested in psychology- if I chose to take that route, I will have all of the course requirements completed with a 4.0 by spring 14'. However I don't know if it would be wise of me to apply for psych if my GPA is not hight enough to get in. Otherwise I may chose to apply for philosophy- also an interest of mine and also will have four classes under my belt upon transferring.

UCB is my dream school, and the location would be right for me at this time in my life.

Extra curricular activity aside from what is stated above:
2 years CC water polo goalie - selected MVP and 1st team all around
Alpha Gamma Sigma Honors society

Any advice regarding my current situation is very much appreciated; I need to start prioritizing my school load ASAP.

Thank you in advance

restart a thread titled “What is my chance to UCB psychology major?”, this seems to be your main concern.
