Hey,

I was looking into the pre-reqs for my major and it has listed a class called Math 23 Statistics for engineering, which my cc doesn't offer and neither o the schools in the surrounding areas. the only thing i can see is Math 10 which is just statistics. What should I do? just take stats 10 since its the only stats class offered?

You are not held responsible for any class that is not offered at your CC or other CCs nearby

You are at De Anza?

You may want to ask De Anza if Math 23 will be offered in a later quarter.

Hey ucbalumnus,

I am at de anza, but it isnt showing up in the later quarters either since i was looking since last fall and have yet to find it. It definitely isn’t offered this semester though i dunno what to do? what if it fills up when its offered?

I wouldn’t worry about it. It is a rare pre-req. Most applicants won’t even have it. Just finish you calculus and econ.

For economics at Berkeley, you may want to take the multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations courses before you transfer; this would allow you to take the “more math” intermediate economics courses (101A/101B instead of 100A/100B).

Thanks so much iTransfer thats was really helpful, really took a load off.

@ucbalumnus what benefit is it to taking those classes before i transfer?

If you intend to do the “more math” economics courses, or additional upper division math courses, it is expected that you have taken the sophomore level math courses (equivalent to Berkeley Math 53 and 54) by the end of your second year.

Berkeley Economics 101A (intermediate microeconomics with more math) lists multivariable calculus as a prerequisite. Several other upper division economics courses at Berkeley (C103, 104, 126, 141) also require sophomore level math:

If you are considering graduate school in economics, the “more math” courses are recommended:
