One of my friend got in UCB Econ major for Spring 2006...But he applied for Fall2005........MY question is ..Why did he get in Spring semester, instead of Fall semester? (He is an international student....) If an applicant is not competitive, he will get in for Spring semester?

not really. he'll proly get rejected if he is not competitive.

First, ur friend might not be telling u the truth. Which is the most likely scenario. A lot of friends that i know say things like that.

was he a part of a transfer program back in the day?

Pretty pointless to return to cc if u already did all the classes.

This is the TRUTH!!! He went to sanfrancicsco a month ago...so this is definitely true....but i dont know why....(He just enjoyed his life for a few month before attending UCB..)

UCB gives spring deferences for many fall freshman admits.

He was probably deferred...all i know about deferences is that they are randomly given to students who qualify, but the school lacks places for whatever reason.

I personally know two people who got accepted for spring as freshman. None who got accepted as transfer students.
