I have been thinking about a summer reading list to 1) keep me in reading practice and 2) broaden my mind, vocabulary, and knowledge of topics I may not have thought about before. I found a link on the Berkeley website to the Summer Reading List for incoming freshman for past years; the current year is not listed. According to MyBerkeleyApp, we are to expect two DVDs in the mail for an optional freshman/sophomore (and I suppose transfer) seminar in the fall, but is the summer reading list sent to transfer students as well?

Here is the link, in case anyone is interested:
UC Berkeley Summer Reading List

Summer reading lists? Nooo...high school all over again

I know, it sort of is, but the topics seem interesting. Anyway, I normally get my summer reading books from my American friend when I visit her in Italy - she always has tons of books - but this spring I was unable to visit her.

Ah, a summer reading list! I actually made my own, but I'll look into that link and add the ones that seem interesting. Thanks for the list!

i'd add 'dandelion wine' by ray bradbury. very colorful, vibrant summer book.

Oooh, sounds like an interesting project to undertake. Can't have my brain rotting over the summer if I want to survive academically. XD;

wait wait wait... do transfers need to read that stuff?

Hey, if I can see the summer reading list, does that mean I'm in???

Guardiangel - "These are not some sort of 'official reading lists' nor are the books necessarily required for courses you will be taking. Rather, these are the personal choices of Berkeley faculty and staff members recommended for you."

alandsa - Uh, I think that page is accessible to the public.

^^^I don't know, I am pretty sure it is only visible to Cal Bears. ;)

cough I'm sorry for being ignorant, thatgirltoo. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me? :(

Say, would anyone be opposed to discussing the texts in a Facebook group or something? :3 I'm not really good at figuring things out by myself...

you mean some ppl still haven't found out if they're admitted or not?
