Hello all,

I'll be starting my first fall semester at a community college this fall (August 24th!!) and I'm hoping to transfer to UC Berkeley. I decided to take the community college route because, like many, my grades weren't all that great and even if I did have the grades, my parent had no way of paying for it! So far I've taken 3 classes that fill IGETC requirements at a CC (1 during HS, 2 during Summer) and received A's in all classes.

Anyways, I had a few question about transferring to Berkeley.

How difficult is it to transfer as a PoliSci major?

Will not taking honors classes put me at a significant disadvantage?

Does being a member of various clubs add meat to my application or do I actually have to hold an official position?

How many community service hours should I aim for?

Assist.org states that UCB required only 2 PoliSci classes and 1 History class for Political Science pre-reqs, will taking all the PoliSci classes available (4) influence my transfer chances? UCLA requires all four classes I believe.

Am I allowed to take a pre-requisite for my major during the last semester of my CC career, which is after they check the grades? Or do I have to have all pre-reqs completed by the time I apply?

Looking forward to your replies.
