UCB transfer supplemental documentation?

I received a link from UC Berkeley about submitting my transcript for verification. Is this a sign that they are considering me for admission? They could easily rejected me cause my GPA is not competitive, but they are taking the time to ask for my transcript to verify my GPA. Did anyone got something like this? Btw, this is not an "audit" of my app cause I called Cal and they just told me that they want to verify my GPA before making a decision. Any thoughts?

Bump! Any thoughts are highly appreciate it.

I haven’t gotten anything like this.

If they want it, send it. Sounds like you might be borderline, though I’m not sure what good an official transcript does vs self-reported grades…

Interesting case. Just send it and hope for the best, man.

I just talked to the honors counselor at my school today, and she told me that UCs are currently pre-screening applicants. Meaning, they’re getting rid of people and putting others into the “second phase” of the application process. She specifically told me this because I need to sign my TAP certification for UCLA, and she received an email from them telling her this (they basically need to make sure the students who put TAP on their application provide evidence from their school, and if they do provide the certification they automatically go into the second phase, so TAP does help). This may or may not apply to you, but the fact UCs are currently getting rid of people, and UCB is asking for your transcript can mean two things : (1) that you’re a “borderline student” like someone else pointed out, and your grades may or may not help you move into the second phase of their application, or (2) they can’t figure out if some of your classes transfer or not (or make sure the grades you provided are correct). So good luck!

Thank you all for your responses! Yeah, I am not sure why they want to see my transcript to verify my classes and GPA. I am not a competitive applicant anyways. They could just easily reject me without even bother to ask for additional documentation. The link provides me with space to submit up to 7 attachments and there is a square where I can write something. So yeah, I will send my transcript plus 2 letters of recommendations. My counselor told me to take advantage of this unique opportunity since I have the chance to add documentation and write more about me. She told me that everything I provide can only help, not hurt at this point. Now, I am thrilled for the fact that UCB is seeing me as a potential student. Good luck to all of you too!!!

Feel free to post if you know something about this or if you received an email asking to provide supplemental documentation.

You didn’t mention the letters of rec or a space to write in your original message.

Supposedly there are three kinds of supplementals you can get… disability, special achievement/accomplishment, and borderline… this sounds like the “borderline” one. Not everyone gets one of course, they don’t send out too many, but at this point the only thing you can really take away from it is that your app is still under consideration, and that they want more information on you. [This thread](<a href=“UC Berkeley Supplemental Freshman Questionnaire - #7 by rider730 - University of California - Berkeley - College Confidential Forums”>UC Berkeley Supplemental Freshman Questionnaire - #7 by rider730 - University of California - Berkeley - College Confidential Forums) has a lot of discussion on it.

@failure622 Thank you so much!! oops, I forgot to mention the space to write and the letters of recommendation. I actually was not expecting a supplemental link by UCB. I just wrote from the bottom of my heart a detail letter about me of information that I did not mention anywhere else in the UC app. It’s actually kind of hard to write more about me because I don’t want to be the type of student that is “please take me cause I want it so bad,” but I would rather be seeing as a student that have potential to succeed and can enrich the UCB student body.

FYI: It seems that UC Berkeley started to review the transfer apps. Two of my friends also got an email with other kinds of questions. So yeah, check your email daily!!! You only have 5 days to response or else the application will be delayed or canceled.

I got the same exact message as you Ron2115. I send my official transcripts yesterday. I got the message over the weekend. My gpa is also not very competitive for Berkley.

It’s exciting to hear that Cal is getting around to letting people know that apps are under review.
It makes me a bit more anxious for admission notices but it also reassures me that they are coming soon!

I agree about the who feeling anxious parts as everything could change in a person’s life after hearing about an admission status. I am very excited for April!

I haven’t received any emails from Cal about any supplemental documents. Hope this doesn’t mean anything bad/good for me! Good luck to us all!

What was your GPA @ron115 and @laxman11 ? I didn’t get any email, so I’m hoping my app wasn’t thrown into the rejected pile.

@laxman11, you should keep continue monitoring your email frequently. I got a second email like one week ago saying “Thank you for the information provided. Please verify where you completed high school, dates of attendance, language of instruction.” I did have to go in the same link again to provide the information. So I got two emails from UCB. Sincerely, I think my personal statement and extracurriculars are what makes them wonder more about me. I worked really hard in my PS and it really shows my personality, academics, struggles, intellectual curiosity, community service, etc. Although UCB is like a dream for me, I will not going to get sad if I get rejected. I am more than happy and honor to say that UCB was somehow interested in me

@AnthroFlo, yeah! it’s actually really awesome to know the exact date when the application is getting reviewed. My counselor told me that usually when they ask more information is when someone is reading the application. I am so anxious and nervous too!

@mr401k, the fact that most people don’t receive supplemental questions does not mean anything. You could easily be already accepted without more questions.

@alsjfllakejfa, my GPA is not competitive at all  To be competitive at Cal people need to have at least 3.5 and up. However, my PS, extracurriculars and jobs are what makes me stand up somehow. You should have more hope than me if you finish your prerequisites and have something around 3.5 and up.

Keep posting if you have or know someone that received a supplemental questionnaire. I wish we could have more threads around in the past but it seems that not many people talked about it. Good luck to all!!! I am crossing fingers and praying for anyone who applied!

It was a 3.4 when I applied in November then it was a 3.36 when I did the TAU in January. However, my GPA bumped up to a 3.44 when I got A’s in both my winter session class so I updated my TAU and I emailed them to give them an update about how my winter session classes went.
