If both these schools let us know in late April such as the 30th could it be later than that as well? I noticed some schools have deadlines such as ucsd I think to sign the SIR or the financial aid. I am confused what if I don't know what school I am going to by then if there deadline is faster than if I will get my decision or not.

k ive been thinking about this.

should i be rejected to UCLA and CAL i was thinking i should have a loophole thing for UCSD so my loophole thing would be to make sure to ask if UCSD/SB want my info POSTMARKED by May 1st or if the definitely want it by May 1st.

if they want it POSTMARKED by May 1st, imma run my ass off to the post office as soon as i get the bad news (hopefully i wont)

so now one of us is going to have to call the Financial Aid office at UCSD/SB to see if the want it POSTMARKED or not.

Are SD and UCI the only ones with May 1 deadlines? That’s a crazy fast deadline - Aren’t most of them June 1 for SIR’s???

I thought they were all June 1st…Are you guys sure UCSD requires May 1st? For some reason, I really doubt that.

well some kids are saying for Dependent students they want the verifications and stuff by May 1st
but again we need that key word POSTMARKED, to see if we can get around it.

Ooooh okay, got it. Thanks for clearing that up for me, jane.

Oh ok that makes sense

I’m still bitter about it.

You can rescind a SIR I believe, but once you rescind it, you can’t resubmit it. So, for instance, you can SIR UCSD, then take it back, then SIR at UCB/UCLA but then you can’t go back and SIR UCSD. That’s what I thought I read on a forum here somewhere.

yeah but every time you SIR it costs $100.

Acceptance of Admission

Each campus that accepts you for admission will issue you a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) form or direct you to a Web site where you can declare your intent to register. Use this form or Web site to indicate whether you accept or decline the admission offer. You are strongly encouraged to wait until you hear from each campus you have applied to before you declare your intent to register

You may accept admission to one campus only. You may not transfer your acceptance from one campus to another after you declare your intent to register. A $100 nonrefundable deposit must accompany your acceptance.

I think if you’re EOP or low income they waive it. That’s what I heard on a freshman forum.

yeah its true im low income and they waived my UC app and they waived my SIR to UCLA last year

but for the kids that arent low income they have to shell out 100 bucks each time. yikes.

times like these im glad im a dislocated worker, lol.

If they aren’t low income then $100 isn’t HUGE for them. It’s worth the extra security in my opinion.

… I wish I couldn’t locate my work. :)

lol

dislocated worker is FAFSAs lame term for unemployed and it was new this year cuz of Obama.
this year was the first year you could click on the FAFSA dislocated worker.
aka
more government funding for us unemployed people.
the only good thing about losing your job is the federal grants for education.

We might as well take all the free money we can, we’re going to be taxed to high heaven later. I’ve seen a few people (that never intend to finish school) use the money to put rims on their car though, and that **** ****es me off. Be Paul Wall with someone else’s money.

yeah that sh1t pi(ss)es me off too. the federal government money isnt the best, but the little money they do give us we should make it stretch and get an education that will help us get a decent job cuz its gonna tie us over when they decide not to give us our social security benefits.
