Personally, my academic area is not strong at all. I messed up a lot. My GPA is quite interesting. I think I did fairly well freshman year, but UCs don't look at that. Sophmore year, I had a .6 increase between 1st and 2nd semester, which is a pretty big jump. Junior year, however, I basically got B's in all my classes...

Aside from my academic area, I think my extracurriculars/leadership is very strong. My focus was primarily in two areas - music and business. They are also what I would like to pursue in college.

I want to go to Berkeley, UCLA, or UCSD, but do I qualify? Personally, I do not think I can get in with my grades. I have one more chance to take the SAT's. If I got a certain score on the SATs, do you think I might have shot? What about the other UCs like Irvine, Davis, Santa Barbara

If not UCs, do I qualify for any of these schools: USC, NYU, Carnegie Mellon, University of Chicago, Claremont McKenna, Northwester, U of Michigan - Ann Arbor?

Thank you for your comments and input! =]

If you do actually raise your SAT by 200 points, you would be competitive for all UCs. Currently, UCB and UCLA are reaches, UCSD is a slight reach, UCI UCSB UCD are matches.

skrng:

UCLA/UCB: Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCD/UCSB/UCI: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match
USC: Reach

They are all reaches.

uhh no there all not reaches

UCB/UCLA:Reach
UCSD:Slight Reach ( maybe more chance with that 2100 on your SAT)
your have a great shot for the rest of the UC's
USC:Reach/Slight Reach

I think zagat was referring only to the three universities listed in the subject line (UCB, UCLA, USC) as being reaches.

ucb is a reach....think u cud pull up ur gpa in the 1st semester of ur senior year?? ucla cud accept u, but it is a reach...ucsd wud probably b a match/slight reach... try usc...that's a good school...the rest u want r safeties

USC is much harder to get into now. It is still a reach for someone with a 3.4 gpa.
