Ucb, USC, cal poly slo, ucsd, ucla

Act : composite score 33
Gpa (a-g): 4.12
Wt Gpa: 4.3
ECs: varsity basketball and volleyball and tons of community service hours

My son is applying to following colleges and wanted to know his chances of getting into the following business or comp sci majors ('cos he is not sure which one he wants ) in each of the colleges below. I know in some cases (like UCB and USC - the acceptance rate is same for business and CS - not sure about cal poly in terms of acceptance rate for each major ?

So if anyone can list out acceptance chances for each of 2 majors for each school that would be much appreciated.

Ucb:
USC:
Cal poly slo
Ucsd
Ucla
Uci

Would love to know his chances of getting each major in each of the schools ?

What is your son’s un-weighted gpa on a 4 point scale?

Why would his un-weighted GPA be relevant? Mom has listed the only GPAs that UC or CSUs care about.

^ That is a bunch of crap, all schools weight grades differently and different schools offer different opportunities to their students.

You think the kid whose high school didn’t offer AP classes is going to be penalized as opposed to the kid who did have them?

Also USC isn’t a UC or a CSU

do you mean their students? and opposed?
OK…I am sure your advice will be extremely helpful with your insight into the workings of UC/CSU and USC.

Unweighted GPA: 3.76 (9-11), 3.80 (10-11)
6 APs courses … 1 (Sophomore), 2 (Junior), 3 (Senior)
10 honors courses

At the risk of repeating myself - mostly trying to see if Computer Science is more competitive than business in each school (especially Cal Poly SLO given that it is hard to switch majors in that school) …

Your GPA is a little low for UCLA and USC, but you should be able to get into the others. And yes, computer science is SIGNIFICANTLY harder to get into than business at all of these schools.
