I'm looking at duke, ucsd, and uc berkeley for biomedical engineering. Although I applied mechanical engineering everywhere, i've already confirmed with duke and ucsd that i can switch into bme, and i'm assuming i can do the same with berkeley. My question is simply how the bme programs at these three schools compare. Also, some insight into external factors would be helpful. For example, location or campus life. I'm from CA and received the full regents at UCSD, but no scholarships from berkeley or duke. Any insight or comments would be helpful; thanks in advance. Also, what's the difference between biomedical engineering and just bioengineering?

bump. c'mon is bekeley's BME that bad?

Is regents a full ride? That's something to think about.

UCSD biomedical engineering is ranked #3, and is located in San Diego where many biotech companies are located.

UCSD is a bit of a commuter campus. Mostly ne buildings. Cal is more of a real campus, with most students living in town or near campus.

Duke is a fairly isolated campus with a southern/northeastern prep culture. Some like that, others don't.

Cal is tops, whether it's academics, campus life, location or cost.

UCSD certainly can hold its ground against Cal in anything bio-related.
