I know some people that go to CAL and they say that competition there isn't as aggressive as you guys describe it. Well maybe cause they haven't taken in upper division courses but you guys still make it seem like CAL is so hardcore in everything and you guys don't take into account other factors.

Quarter system vs. Semester system. What do you think?

In Korea, UCLA is better-regarded than Berkeley is. Before I came to CA, I thought Berkeley was a music school.

I just want to know: who has the better undergraduate economics program?

And this is for socal people going to CAL: is it really a hassle to drive from socal all the way to norcal just for Berkeley?

^people don't usually drive, they fly.

Berklee is a music school in New England.

Quarter system vs. Semester system. What do you think?
Sprints vs. marathons!

Neither. The very notion of ranking undergrad majors is silly. They're both good.

The drive isn't that bad, albeit boring.

Really? Most people I know take the Grapevine...but maybe my friends are weird.

I'm thinking about doing communication and/or political science in hopes of going into journailsm, which would benefit me more, UCLA or Cal?

*journalism

Define "benefit." What do you want from a school? Both are excellent, have top 10 poli sci and comm. departments, and great student papers.

I'd say you need to look at the intangibles now.

Are Berkeley and UCLA equally good schools for students who wish to go on a pre-med path? What about business?

Are the academic differences really infinitesimal between the two? It seems so hard to decide the better fitting school for me.

What attracted you to apply to each school in the first place?

yes, from what I've heard, the academic differences are "infinitesimal."

from research UCLA vs Cal last year in terms of medical school acceptance rate was 49% and 62% respectively. apparently, this holds true for the last couple of years too. I love UCLA and i'm still hesitant on Cal but can someone explain this gap!! im dying to know myself.

To be honest, the Berkeley data's kind of fishy. For one, it's only using those who released their data to UCB through AMCAS, so we can't say how representative it actually is of the average applicant. There may be significant bias.

I wouldn't base your decision on the data on either of their websites. Ask the offices for more specific data if you're concerned.

Who would want to go to a UC that produced a lunatic terrorist called the Unabomber aka Ted Kaczynski LOL

Edit: Cal students are soooooo happy to be there

(on the side, i thought that post #11 by kyledavid was hilarious- his assumption that Cal only had 136 med applicants, and his genius logic that you normalize by multiplying Cal percentage with the number of total UCLA applicants )
