@CBBolts: I’m from San Diego as well and I do not know one person who would rather go to UCSD than UCLA.

^^i know alot of peopel that would rather go to SD over LA. they are mostly bio majors or polisci majors. i would, however, choose UCLA over SD any day for any major. i would rather go to ucla over berkeley too, but since la doesn’t have business…USC it is!

Id rather go to UCSD than UCLA, i didnt even apply to UCLA, i only applied to UCB, UCSD, UCD, and UCSB

I stand corrected.

Hahaha, I’m not saying that no one should want to attend UCSD over UCLA, different strokes for different folks, I just found the “atmosphere” comment curious. Being from SD I spent a lot of time on SD’s campus visiting friends ect, and the place always seemed dead. Most of the people I knew that attended SD (minus the couple more reserved ones) always complained about its atmosphere. There are a lot of good reasons to go to SD but as a super social person the place was just not for me. However, I fell in love with UCLA. It was the perfect fit for me. In fact, when I was applying to schools I was going to go to UCSD over UCB if I didn’t get in to UCLA (yes it’s possible to get into one and not the other). UCB just flat out grossed me out on my four trips to its campus (three of them social visits). I don’t like NorCal weather, didn’t like the students who came across as cut throat on my visits, and the campus just kind of bummed me out. But that’s why all schools are not the same, because neither are all people.

i wonder if anyone would choose SD over B

^ haha good timing

LOLL yeah, tbh i LOVE berkeley, its such a great place, and i love norcal weather, but i guess its cu zim a norcal boy loll

that seems to be the way it goes lol. That’s why I laugh when you see guys starting flame wars over which UC’s are better to attend, like it’s a “one size fits all” kind of deal.

yeah, to each his own, u know? i mean i know ppl who hate certain UCs/areas/places, and others that love those same UCs/areas/places…loll like i hate UCLA, and you love it, and vice-versa for UCB.

btw does it snow it berkeley? i’ve only been to n. cal once up to SF and it was hot that day

no it doesnt, it snowed up here in the bay once this year, but just a tiny bit, but in my 19 years that was teh only snow ive seen up here. if u want to see snow u can always go up to Tahoe, if ur up here.

CCBolts: I’m not going to be creepy and asked where you live/lived in SD but as I am obsessed with all the great, authentic mexican food I’m just curious where your favorite place is to go (if you even like it yourself)?
Personally, I love Sombrero’s (in IB), Rivas (underneath the Coronado Bridge on the San Diego side), and Santana’s the most.

I love Santana’s but my top two have to be El Cotixan on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. and Maritza’s on Mt. Acadia Blvd. across from the Bobbie Sox fields (guaranteed best fresh homemade hot sauce you’ve ever had son!)

ps if you live in SD and don’t love Mexican food you need to rethink your life choices because you are seriously missing out. The hardest part about being at UCLA is there is NO legit mexican food near campus. I honestly went through withdrawls my first quarter lol.

Ahh El Cotixan is great. I have only been there once though. I will most likely not be going to college in California, so I am definitely going through major withdrawals. I might die.

haha harsh bro, it will be tough for sure

btw, to the guy who said my name doesnt really represent my choice of schools, I created this name before I even step foot on UCLA, and all I wanted was nothing but Berkeley… thank god my friends got me to go with them on a weekend trip to see the place… totally exceeded my expectations!

UCLA is one of those places that make you never wanna leave. At Berkeley, I loved it, but I was always turned off by something for a split second.

Hey CalBerks, UCLA has a beautiful campus, and it was a tough decision for me too. Getting into either school is quite an accomplishment. I picked Berkeley because it has always been my dream school, and honestly I like my areas to be a bit more beat up and run down. That sounds weird, but I prefer the old and beat up look of the town of berkeley, to Westwood. Westwood is too clean for me. Maybe that makes me a Berkeley hipster. : )

^haha that’s funny I grew up in some of the poorest areas so living in Westwood was super attractive for me.

gogmen2 I know what you mean.

A kind of trashed place seems to build character. I don’t know if thats from too many years in high school stumbling around unsavory places, but I definitely know what you mean.
